Statistics need to be looked at before all this bloody arguing in chat about US v China :D

So as a neutral I have looked into the matter!!!


Great Britain Pop:56,000,000
USA Pop: 304,000,000
China Pop: 1,300,000,000

Therefore....
USA has 5.4 time the population of Great Britain
China has 23.2 times the population of Great Britain

Currently
Great Britain has 11 Golds
USA has 19 Golds (1.7 time that of UK)
China has 35 GOlds (3 times that of UK)

Now at the current stage Great Britain and China have propbably achieved the vast majority of the Gold medals it will achieve as we tend to be weaker at track and field.

So we need to project the medal hauls of each country to assess realistic comparisons.

Therefore assuming GB get no more Golds

US need to get another 41 Golds
China another 220 Golds

If either of these nations achieve this then only then can they say that they out-punched the Brits when it comes down to the crunch. :D
