Stunty Metagroup
I'd really like to see more diversity in the Stunty division on gamefinder. Nearly 60% of my games are against 5 of the 15 stunty races and I try to keep teams in each TV bracket for variety. Henceforth, I plan on brainstorming and then implementing a Stunty Meta group that would reward the lesser played races with bonus points.

I do need two things from you dear reader.

First, I need information about metagroup scripts. I know nothing about it and could use some technical help or advice about running such a group.

Second, I'd like your help sketching out a rules structure. What would you like or not like to see in the meta-group? Should it be limited to a set number of games like elf? Should it be open ended?

I hope to start fomenting some of my own ideas, and yours, tomorrow and to get a thread started asap to get things rolling. I'd love to have this group start right after the FCC finishes.

Thoughts?

I'd had some similar thoughts, but to be honest, I'd rather take part than run it, so thanks for stepping up. Unfortunately, I also know nothing about how to turn the API into something usable. So I guess I'm no help at all.

Ooh, unless you're stuck for a name for the group? I'd been thinking either the GUMBBL Rally or FUMBBALL Rally (play on the Gumball Rally, and because you'd visit all the teams like rally points. That makes some kinda sense, right?). Then I was gonna work out a suitable backronym once I got round to actually doing anything with the idea. Anyway, if you want it, it's yours.

Oh, and as for rules, I'd been thinking something along the lines of the Box Grid Filling group, but the E.L.F.-like thing is probably better, make it more of a monthly rivalry, stimulate some competition...

Good idea. Ask Dalfort about the Box Grid group.

One idea I've really been liking is a Sprint of 16 games. You can play 8 games with up to 2 different teams. One set of 8 can be played with one of the Common 7* played teams in last seasons Metagroup** or all 16 with teams from the Uncommon 8 (or just 8). You can play more with either team but only your best 8 results for both sides will count.

Is that too much of a burden for new players? I like the idea of multiple teams in the sprint because stunty teams can get blown up, stunty on gamefinder is sometimes a crapshoot, and sometimes you just want to play something different.

*Eventually this will be 8 Common Teams and 8 Uncommon teams when ProFlings release

**Not sure what the name of the group will be as of yet.

Example for clarity.

I decide to join this season. I need to pick 2 different teams to play in the Sprint.

The Most Common 7 Teams from last season are Chaos Flings, Cheaters, Gnomes, Horrors, Nurglings, Squig Herders, and Forest Goblins. From that batch I choose to play my Gnome team.

The Uncommon 8 has all the other teams and since I've never played Skinks I've decided to roll a Skink team. My brother also joins the group but would like to play all rats all the time so he picks Skyre and Eshin which this season are both considered Uncommon teams.

In future seasons the Common and Uncommon teams should change based on participation, which I find both unique and fun.

Also, with this system we can reward bonus points to your Uncommon side of your Sprint so that it really encourages players to get out and play even more games with their Uncommon side so they can maximize their results. Remember, only your best 8 games are counted.

Numbers of games, specific scoring rules, and timeframe can be hammered out at a later time too.

Anyone have any ideas for names? Let's focus on group names with the assumption that this twin team format is a good one.

Skryre are rare now? I don't think they are, but if so that kind of shows what a little bunch of meta gamers those coaches are. Before the changes they were everywhere. I think rather than becoming rare, they just tend to all stay at a similar TV.

For me (and I play high TV, so not many Fobbos) Cheaters, C Flings and Horrors are by far my most common opponents (I like playing Horrors so I tend to look for them).

Then Eshin, Nurglings and Gnomes.

I don't play against Skryre so my list isn't a true reflection.

I am more than willing to work on a Stunty Grid Filling group, it is simply a collection of data rather than a structured for points allocation. The E.L.F. format would in my opinion also work well for Stunty (although I have no idea about scripts to score it) as it would not impeach upon the competitive concerns of Stunty and "arranging" games. In addition the 2 groups would not need to be exclusive, as a Grid Filling group literally displays data collected based on games played not outcomes, nor number of specific actions (Tree fouls as an example of Delirium Trees group. Check it out its awesome :p)

Take care Dalfort

You could just ask Koadah to set up a sprint for the Stunty Leeg, he has everything in place for that already I believe. Just needs to change the division the script looks in.

A metagroup for filling the grid would be nice and would perhaps encourage coaches to play some of the lesser played teams. Probably not by all that much though.
A sprint on the other hand, with the common and uncommon teams for example, would garnish more interest I think, but at the same time require someone to step up and keep the records and all that.

@HM I'm not suggesting that any team is Uncommon or Common at this time, it was merely for illustration purposes.

I plan on running this group and collecting the data. Hopefully we can find a way to automate it, otherwise I'll just pen & paper it.

Grid filling is what pushed me to play all of the races. It also prevents me from trying to pick games based on whether or not they are to my advantage.

I like the idea of using Koadah's sprint for stunty.
