Cheats among us?
I was just wondering how many of those that were banned are already back on Fumbbl useing different accounts. Obviously I'm not expecting any of those that are banned to reply to this. ;) That would be rather naive. But I have already come across one coach who was banned and I wonder how many others are hiding in plain sight. It's a shame really that it's so easy to get around. But I suspect these guys will show there true colours soon enough. As the saying goes a leopard can't change his spots.

A cheat is a cheat. And a cheat is a loser!

*It seems most of you aren't bothered about the cheats continuing on Fumbbl. Fair enough.

I assume you have reported them?
Posted by Irgy on 2009-11-19 02:28:24
Really though getting banned and having to use a new account is probably punishment enough. Your teams need to start from scratch, your CR is reset, your reputation non-existant, your new account under threat if you ever actually acheive anything (as tournament winners with newish accounts would be under scrutiny). Basically cheating the way they were won't help them much anyway any more, and if they want to lie low and still play some games then good for them I say.

Exactly Irgy.
Losing ALL of the teams they spent time building are GONE.
And I would expect that ANY new accounts will be scrutinzed. It isn't as if we are bombarded by new accounts daily.

But on another note. If ANYONE knows that one of these current cheaters is BACK they should report them even if they just suspect them of being one of these cheaters.

If they were cheating before they will probably do it again so any tabs kept on NEW accounts or even perhaps long dormant accounts would be a good thing.

Personally, I would suspect ANY new account and keep them on a list for a year maybe longer to look through upon occasion. If you looked at the matches played on the accounts of the cheaters you could see how obvious it was in hindsight.

Check on any new accounts every 2 months for a certain period and it will be obvious that they either ARE or ARE NOT a NOOB or a cheater.

And checking even one account takes a lot of time. Admins do plenty of stuff for us now anyhow.
Posted by bobafettsmum on 2009-11-19 09:52:32
No I didnt report them as they turned up in chat for all to see and I'm pretty sure that one of those that was speaking to this coach is an admin. Though I am quite happy to give the name if I'm asked by one of the administrators.
I think actually tho Irgy is probably right in what he says unless they have been useing 2 (or more) accounts concurrently which could mean that they have other teams that they are quite happy to play with. I'm actually quite suprised that this blog only has a rating of 3 so far. Maybe some of the cheaters have been rating this blog!!! ;)

I also know one...
Posted by Mithrilpoint on 2009-11-19 12:45:26
If you know cheaters, please submit a support ticket with all the information you have. If you know cheaters but won't report them i'd suggest you get your priorities straight.
If you say you know cheaters just to be cool but really don't , then power to you.

Looks like we'll be getting some tickets in shortly :)

What makes you think you met one?

You lost? Watch your CR!
You won? Check the dice in that game!
You conceeded? You contributed to him!
He was playing ugly and evil? Many do so!
He was not using IRC intensively? So I am also a cheater!

Making all lucky, impolite, cruelly playing newbie in this community a cheater is also a violation to this communities style...isn't it?
Posted by bobafettsmum on 2009-11-19 18:30:28
Ger0nim0. I know I met one because he is named on the front page amongst the cheaters. He came into chat, admitted he had other accounts and said he was looking for a game. Is that enough evidence for you?
Posted by ger0nim0 on 2009-11-19 19:53:22
after they were banned? :-P
Posted by Catalyst32 on 2009-11-19 20:36:38
I would say if you met a NOOB in a game with fewer than 15 games played that could play quickly it would be a good indicator. Even coaches that are experienced with Blood Bowl tend to be slow using the client early on. And if a NOOB doesn't play slow OR make the sort of GLARING MISTAKES that a NOOB would make by playing fast it is probably someone with a 2nd account and perhaps one of the banned cheaters.
Posted by arw on 2009-11-19 20:48:47
ger0nim0 is right. Before I read your comment I also thaught you'd have met someone you merely believed to be a cheater.
You are starting a witch hunt.
Why is the rating below 4? Well... "1" for a witch hunt I'd say.

Oh and just for the record: fumbbl actually has quite something to do with a rather popular TT game (the name of which is unspeakable in these days of legal actions)- so not all of those joining in are really new to the game, do blatant mistakes etc.

NO Catalust32, there are other sites using the same client. Also some people use the client for privat leagues only.

So lots could be good and fast without playing on fumbbl, as there are other ways to use this client than here:D

Where in this blog do I accuse a n00b of being a cheat? And Ger0nim0 I met the banned coach in chat, admitting he had other accounts, saying he was looking for a game AFTER he had been banned. Does that compute?
