Crap, I've forgotten the rules
So last night I played tabletop for the first time in about a year. In this time I've been playing a reasonable amount of FUMBBL with all it's automated goodness. Only when returning to the joys of Tabletop did I discover that I'd forgotten how some things work and take all this lovely automation for granted! Not big things, but things I used to know for certain I now had to double-check the rulebook for, such as:

- What kick-off table results are on which numbers
- The effect of said kick-off table results
- Whether stunty players can throw long bombs
- If Treemen have Thick Skull
- How hypnotic gaze works

Some of this was down to me being asked loads of rules questions while also playing a match, and I also played most of my Tabletop under a different version, but still it is concerning that I seem to be regressing into a nub.

Ah well, back to FUMBBL and automation! :D

Rated 6 for telling it like it is for kick-off tables, i can never remember that, just used to have a 'cheat sheet' that showed what they did with a couple of other reminders

Crowd throw-ins are hard, too. But the worst thing is moving the turn marker!

Haha. Yeah, at one point I was 2 turns behind my opponent. I looked across and said 'is it turn 7!?'. We worked it out and it was, to which my response was 'ah crap, I needed to do that differently then!'. My opponent kindly offered to let me change my turn, but it was my own fault so I didn't and still, luckily, managed to get someone in range to score.:P

Good on you he didn't call on illegal procedure! ;-)

When I started playing TT, I was an utter slave to automation in all of the ways you describe. Now I've done it lots and know all of those things off by heart, I feel much more on top of games on FUMBBL. Somehow much more in control, even though it clearly makes no physical difference knowing the kickoff table off by heart. Weird, but I guess it just makes you feel more comfortable?

Out of interest, when did Get the Ref! go from being 3 to 2? Was it the same time it changed to being a Bribe instead of free fouling? Did throw a rock and Pitch invasion switch around too?

I think it was LRB5, maybe 6, as part of the big fouling nerf. It is a 3 in LRB4. It wasn't enough to nerf fouling, but making bribes less attainable was added. All a bit of silly overkill from someone (I would guess) who disliked fouling, and fouling type teams, like say, Khemri.

Blitz! is the one that should have been moved to a 2/12, or at the least a 3/11 roll.

Back on topic, started teaching the kids the basics recently for fun. Keeping track of players that have moved is a huge pain. :D

anyone who calls IP on forgetting to move the turn counter is asking for a punch in the nose.

P.S. the title should read "CRP, I've forgotten the rules". ;)

Remembering to turn players after actions and turn stuns before start of next player's turn is also tricky for a couple of games.

I always forget foul appearance.

@Whatball : Remembering which players have moved is helped by "facing" them in a different direction, this method is used a lot at tournaments too.

Great blog though, I struggle to remember lots of things when I play TT but mainly the Nega-traits for Big Guys and turning stunned players over.

The game next to ours had been playing the whole match without side-step on the snotlings.

@WhatBall: We used the turn around method for showing which players had moved, then I hypno-gazed one and I turned him around to show that, then though that wouldn't work so turned him to the side, then wandered off to find a coin to put on his base :D

that moment when you realise your opponent has "forgotten" take root for the whole first half o_O

We played our entire first season, years ago, not realizing tackle stopped players from re-rolling dodges. We discovered this after the season had ended, all 15 games with 8-10 people plus the playoffs... I was reading the rulebook and when I discovered this was very reluctant to tell everyone because I had gone undefeated for the year with Zons. O.o
