My Fish Pie Success
Those with an emotional investment in my culinary skills will be pleased to know that my fish pie, after many hours work, was a fantastic success.

For those of you who would like to recreate it and be just like me, here's the recipe I used: http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/member-recipes/recipe-detail/499/

I have leftovers today for lunch, with some crusty bread.

Yum!

:P

I ate at a Jamie Oliver restaurant once. He wasn't there. Food was nice though.

Congratulations on a successful Fish Pie squire. I salute your good works.

Today's fish is trout a la crème, enjoy your meal.

FISH!

sorry mate, but this guy puts CREAM and PARMESAN in a Carbonara. don't trust people who put cream in a carbonara, and don't trust self-called chefs using parmesan in a carbonara.
This guy is just outrageous.

I love a good fish pie; love it. Well done.

In my defense it was a fan submitted recipe to the Jamie Oliver website, not one of his own.

That said, I think that sounds tasty. There is no cuisine in this world cannot be made better by a liberal amount of parmesan :D

hey ;)

i am French, and i really dont know how you can eat such fings lol... Fish cooked with milk ??? beuarrrrk :D

Every idiot ordering carbonara expects something with at least some cream in it. So a good chef knows this. Without any doubt jamie oliver is a good one.
Tho personally i look forward to the day he will also throw those "3 hands of parmesan" on his deserts as well.

Cooked a oliver fish pie recipe years ago. Different one though, a family recipe, much too hearty with cooked eggs in it and whatnot. This sounds much better.

Ah, those days when one could still pretend life was enjoyable...
Now that im grey and wise and tasted all kind of fishpies the world has to offer, id prefer a dripfeed any day. ;)

A good fish pie requires boiled egg segments. This is unarguable.

I just thought this was going to be rude.

English cuisine! Makes me feel so nostalgic about my university days...

"Many hours of work" is what always puts me off of Jamie Oliver recipes...

I'm gonna add this to my list of "Fumbbl cooking incidents" along with Rumanski's pumpkin soup. :-D

I ate at a Jamie Oliver's restaurant once and had a lasagne and as thoroughly disappointed - the portion was tiny and the food was not tasty.

One thing about Jamie Oliver that has made me smile over the years is the campaign he did in the US to try to make school meals more healthy over there.

In one of the states he was in chips counted as a portion of veg for school menus which inevitably led Jamie to breakdown in tears...

"I must find a way to save these kids!!!" hilarious :)
Posted by mister__joshua on 2014-12-05 14:41:41
Well, the many hours work was a combination of me speccing FUMBBL games and my lack of culinary expertise.

My missus doesn't like boiled eggs, but even so I can't imagine what they'd add to a fish pie. I should investigate!

Do not listen to Purplegoo, he is a culinary philistine. Ketchup on almost everything! Salad Cream on the rest.
Posted by DeZigma on 2014-12-05 17:28:37
Pah, fish has to be grilled!

waitwaitwait... Theres such thing as "Salad Cream"????

Where!?
Posted by mister__joshua on 2014-12-05 20:48:51
@DeZigma: If you grille it the batter goes all funny
Posted by Purplegoo on 2014-12-06 00:43:31
Lorebass, salad cream is a wonderous condiment. Tastier than mayonnaise and better for you.

That Joemanji guy talks stuff and nonsense. Ketchup with everything, indeed. However, it might work against rich, creamy fish pie...

Note to self.

'Serve piping hot with tomato ketchup, baked beans, steamed veg or a lovely green salad '.

This is Jamie Olivers serving suggestion with his fish pie recipe so don't hold back PG, slap the bottom of that bottle with abandon the next time you have a fish pie in front of you .

Personally think the steamed veg or green salad thing is a bit wacky . .

Fish pie sounds awesome. Must find an occasion to make it.

And for us Americans ignorant of salad cream:

Surely no self respecting englishman can use a fish in pie when there is an opportunity to batter it.
P.S. Ketchup can never hold a candle to the glory of HP Sauce.

so if every idiot will believe that there's a map to reach Proxima Centauri in the portrait of George Washington, then it automagically becomes true?

Carbonara is one simple recipe and there is no cream:
-Egg yolks,
-Smoked bacon,
-Pecorino cheese,
-Black pepper.
