The mighty Shift+Click!
Some of you guys recommended me a while ago using labels on players with Shift+Click, which is awesome! Huge thanks for that! :-)

In one of my recent games a veteran coach did not heard about this cool feature, so I thought to include an image about that so you guys can play with it :-)

All hail the power of Shift+Click!

Also, as others pointed out in the comments the best to use is abbreviations of the skills. I like to use capitalized letters for the first letter of the skills then lower case letters, so I can avoid confusions. Think of DT: is it Dodge and Tackle or Diving Tackle? If you use Dt for Diving Tackle, that's not an issue.

I also tend to mark players with extraordinary skills that I have little experience with (e.g., Animosity in the screenshot, because I play against Underworld teams very rarely and can forget about that skill easily). The thing is that one of my previous games a forgotten skill -- Hypnotic Gaze given to a goblin with a magic card -- saved me a hopeless game I managed to win! I accidentally clicked on the activation of Hypnotic Gaze so I was able to blitz the ball carrier with the guy it marked, steal the ball and do a TD!

I like to mark Loners too with L, just to know if I have the option to put some boots into multiple players then do it for the non-Loner guy. I usually mark stat changes as well (-Av, +Ag, etc.).

FoulMe! <--- you are genius. I promise I will use this one.

Yeah, I also love the 'FoulMe!' label.

G = guard
B = block
W = wrestle
T = tackle
...
...
..
X = c-c-c-combo!
XX = dangerous guy!
XXX = WARDANCER. FOUL EVERY TURN

was taught to me early on, cant remember who. Great feature. I usually write something funny to make me laugh. The worst cuss words go to the most dangerous players.

Spread the word!

But you need to economise with your markings roante, stuff like animosity should never be marked. :D

Remember that you can also mark the pitch. Very useful when you're trying to figure out where you should build your cage, for example. After you're done, you can remove the markings.

tags weaken the brain

No risk for you then :D

I've used this feature for a long time. Mark both my own skills and opponent skills. You can also mark squares on the pitch, though I haven't really come up with a good use for that. RO above makes a good point regarding them though!

As Overhamsteren says, you need to label the important stuff particularly later when you've got lots of skills per player. Things like blitzers you should already assume to have block, so no need to mark that for example, or like OH said, animosity on any non-gobbo/troll on a UW team.

I use:
g - guard
k - either claw/mb/po, mb/po, kick depending on race/position. Usually fairly bleeding obvious which is kick and which is mb/po
t - tackle
bt - break tackle
ss - sidestep
sf - stand firm
b - block (only if it's a rare skill)
d - dodge (only if it's a rare skill)
dp - dirty player
and then stats.

Basically, I always mark skills that will mess up my turn if I miss them (such as guard/ss/sf), and then mark anything else I feel that's important.

Always, always tag DT...
Posted by fabiomightyblow on 2013-10-17 09:05:33
Nice and useful feature. I like to tag players with more than 1 skill in this way: Dp for Dirty player, Ss side step and so on. Usually i use capital letters for the more common skills or simply write Pomb for the dangerous ones. :)

Rated 6 because I didn´t know this. Thanks!
Posted by okostomi on 2013-10-17 10:13:29
I mark important things with Capital letter, these are thinks one shouldn't miss: ST+, DT, K (kick), G. The rest like Hitonagashi. Boring clawpomb combo shortly is 'KILL' if he has tackle/frenzy also, 'kill' if he has only the 3 basic skills to kill.
Posted by Sp00keh on 2013-10-17 10:52:35
I tend to mark carriers as "ball" and important player as "star"

the game-saving ones are ss and dt for sidestep diving tackle cos they're too easy to forget and can screw u hard if u miss them
also I mark every 'G'uard and +St to help planning and sequencing blocks
Posted by Sp00keh on 2013-10-17 10:55:53
@OP: also add L to your own loners so u know who to use as fodder or to foul with
Posted by fabiomightyblow on 2013-10-17 11:06:35
Aah and don't forget to mark your player at 5,15,30 spp and so on in order to make them score or gain something (typical for elven teams) :)
Posted by B_SIDE on 2013-10-17 11:18:12
Marking players for advancement is a good idea! I'll do that. Maybe mark them with a "+".

And yeah, always mark DT.
Posted by cthol on 2013-10-17 11:31:49
Played a game the other day where the opposing human thrower had side step, dodge, +AG, nerves of steel... I wasn't sure how i could abbreviate all of that into the 4 or 5 visible letters. Then I looked again and realised that I was missing the important stuff.

So I labelled him "AV7n"
Posted by the_Sage on 2013-10-17 12:44:44
When it gets complicated, I tend to use caps for ST skills and lower case for G skills. so bB would be block break tackle.

opponents' diving tackle becomes DT! because it's one skill you really don't want to forget.

On some teams I'll skip block and mb if it's reasonable to assume them. So a block pomb tackle saurus jus becomes 'POt'.

I'd really love to be able to save markings for my own teams and/or be able to generate them algorithmically.

@cthol Hahah, you made my day, mate :D
Posted by jamesfarrell129 on 2013-10-17 15:18:15
My favourite label for an opposing player is simply "kill"

I tend to add more things to my players, so I know what they have - quite often its how many SPPs they have, so that Nuffle willing I can get them towards skill-ups.
Posted by Roland on 2013-10-17 17:00:44
Don't forget to mark your own players aswell :D

I've totally missed out on this new feature. Thanks for bringing it up!
