Posted by Skolopender on 2011-10-31 11:19:04
Are you sure it's such an American tradition?

Posted by Corvidius on 2011-10-31 11:20:05
Um, you might want to recheck your facts on that one.
Posted by DonTomaso on 2011-10-31 11:31:25
They might not have invented it, but they sure did commersialize it.
pffft!
Just like Christmas...
Posted by Shraaaag on 2011-10-31 11:32:32
Most traditions have existed for a long while , USA just commercialized them.
Posted by pythrr on 2011-10-31 11:53:08
i think the term is "commodify", but yes.
Posted by spiro on 2011-10-31 12:45:09
doesn't matter who has the idea to create that tradition, for me it's crap, the same as rabbit with some eggs. RABBIT with the eggs, is there some more stupid ?
Posted by spiro on 2011-10-31 12:46:48
ps. i thin USA is fault that this ##$%@$ something is like disease at the whole world.
Posted by pythrr on 2011-10-31 12:50:47
"RABBIT with the eggs"

Moar! Moar!
Posted by blocknroll on 2011-10-31 12:56:42
Spiro speaks the truth (even if he may have some facts wrong his point is a good one)
Posted by NoCoolNickLeft on 2011-10-31 12:57:50
I can say only pfft lammer to this!!
Posted by Ullakkomorko on 2011-10-31 13:08:41
There must be something good about it if it's spread so widely. Take Marmite as a comparable. If it was any good, everyone would be eating it all over the world.
Posted by Skolopender on 2011-10-31 13:09:49
Blaming US for Europe starting to take this trend on seems a little harsh.

Who is the bigger fool...?

The fool or he who who follows him?

(On a personal note: I hate commercialized Halloween as much as Spiro does, so on that account we actually agree.)
Posted by spiro on 2011-10-31 14:03:53
wait a minute skolopounder, do you called USA men as a fools and others whose follows them too ? LOL Thanks man, respect for ya.
Posted by Catalyst32 on 2011-10-31 14:10:04
What is difference between Commercial Halloween and Traditional Halloween? Better Costumes? Store bought candy instead of homemade treats with razors in them? Fewer hayrides? A time to experiment with costumes, fantasy and cosplay? A great party to go to and have lots of fun? Lots of women wearing a lot less than they usually do to try to land a boyfriend to snuggle with during the cold winter? Halloween is a great holiday. Fun to be had in many ways for all ages. 1 last good wild night for it gets too cold. What is not to like?
Posted by spiro on 2011-10-31 14:29:55
my God, pffft typical Usa thinking, you all only wants to find FUN and naked woman, you just have not enough transsexualists, sado maso men, sex shops, walentine days, dancers go go on the pipes, mardi gras and these stupid beads for naked tits pffft Made in China, some poore kids doing it very hard for the bowl of the rise.

Morality of USA is very very LOW. For example, a mother Lindsay Lohan is doing career on her own doughter, she has not any morality, the same as her doughter, CARPE DIEM pffft. Other guy is shooting to all shool because had some dream from a narcotic god.

Do not thinking about death because it hurts, just find some fun, doesn't matter how.

LOL

Classic one Spiro...although I think you are a little ungrateful of all the freedom and liberties you now have. But hey that comes with youth, you probally dont remember the Iron Curtain and the jack boot of communism up your fellow country mens ass.

Your freedom was bought with blood by the United States and their Western Europe allies. So rail on about the comericalization of Halloween, that is your right given to you, but dont forget who gave it to you.
Posted by spiro on 2011-10-31 14:49:20
I remember communism very good, i am old enough, but for now the kids are learning about it at the shools. It's old old history for now. USA can't using Russia anymore pfftf, plus what the hell help your country gave to as. UNRA PACKS?
We are won with communism, a Poland and polish people, Jan Pawel II and Lech Walesa , not Bush with his son pffft or even Clinton with Monica Lewinsky.
Posted by Juff on 2011-10-31 14:53:54
Pfffft
Posted by PainState on 2011-10-31 14:54:39
Oh my...Clinton and George W were presidents after the fall of communism.

And that is true that 1989 and 1990 are history...but the "fall out" from those years still effect us today. Especially in Poland.
Posted by spiro on 2011-10-31 15:04:16
so, Bill Clinton was a man from a space ? he was nobody at the USA at these days ?
Posted by Skolopender on 2011-10-31 15:04:19
Derailment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A derailment is an accident on a railway or tramway in which a rail vehicle, or part or all of a train, leaves the tracks on which it is travelling, with consequent damage and in many cases injury and/or death.

There are several main causes of derailment: broken or misaligned rails, excessive speed, faults in the train and its wheels, and collisions with obstructions on the track. Derailment can also occur as a secondary effect in the aftermath of a collision between two or more trains. Trap points protect main lines from runaway vehicles by deliberately derailing them to bring them to a stop.

Spiro, get over it. The popularity of Halloween is a veritable boon to those of us who do LARP and is a jolly fine festival to boot. I live in Edinburgh and as well as the Halloween festivities we have Samhuinn fire processions. Morality is an individual issue not simply a cultural issue and frankly Halloween has nothing to do with morality. The fact that you brought up Transgender folks as an example of what's wrong with the world honestly disgusts me and says more about your personal draconian morality than i care to know.

Long live Halloween and good cheer to all as the world grows cold once again. :P

Posted by Arktoris on 2011-10-31 18:57:27
this reminds me of all the ugly women and men who protest Valentine's Day.

spir0, get laid. You'll find afterwards all your hate against Halloween will disappear like magic.

on a related note, this year, I'm turning up the payoff for trick or treaters...I'm giving out full sized hershey bars. that's right, no itsy bitsy one bite pieces of candy.

full size bars for the first 30 kids.

Happy All Hallow's Eve!

good lord. a throwaway 1 liner about halloween = a 35 reply debate about freedom, comunism, ugly women protesting valentines, the comercialisation of traditional festivals, usa vrs europe, "transsexualists" and clintons origins.

Spiro you are a true pro. you should chanrge people to look at these.

\o/ Pffffffffffffffft
thanks to spiro for making me laugh just when I needed to.
<3 u pffffffffffft spiro.

And oh yeah, please don't judge the USA by the actions of our idiot hollywood elitists, trashy, useless reality TV celebrities & foolish politicians. The majority of this country are good, hard working, morally upstanding regular people that are just as angry w/ our government & the elitists who portray us negatively to the rest of the world. In other words, don't judge a book by it's cover my pfffft-filled friend.

Signed, your friend
