Re: B is the Biased League
Dear ChrisB,

I was interested in the amount / degree of unfair matchups your teams faced (as you suggest in your Blog) and was stupid enough to look through your 2 active B-teams...

...this is what I found (TS-diff is corrected by hc):

Link
TS-Diff TD-Diff Perm-Cas-Diff

Dwarf:
-14 -1 1
-12 0 1
-11 1 1
-11 2 0
-11 -1 -1 (conceeded)
-10 2 2
-10 0 0

Chaos:
-13 3 2
-13 2 1
-11 1 1
-11 2 2
-10 0 1

...evidence:

1. You've played 49 matches with your active B-teams (Dwarf + Chaos) with an impressive record of 12/5/10 and 12/3/7 and Cas-diff: +44, +33

2. Out of those 49, 12 matches were in your opponents favor by at least 10 TS diff.

3. Out of those 12, you lost 2

4. Out of those 12, there is 1 game where the permanent Cas.-difference was in your Oppo's favor

...conclusion:

If your grip on reality is getting this distorted you might want to take a break from playing fantasy-games ;-)

It's a tough life for fragile old Dwarfs and Chaos in the box...

Actually, I signed the petition myself (earlier than these Blogs), and I'm still not sure about whether or not I'd like pure-TS-matchups or the BR/BBR/TS - mix we have in the box right now.

CrisB's example is some evidence, that a BR/BBR/TS - mix isn't over-compensating, at least :)

How do Handicaps make up the balance? Your dreaming if you think Handicaps actually balance the games they do either nothing ro overcompensate (It wasnt me, revenge etc). In 90% of the cases they do little to change the balance.

And my point is that the only way to actual have a fair game is to play the superior races. Calcium - you missed the point!

@CrisB: I agree, that HC often don't do anything or overcompensate, but I think that 5 TS is a good value for them on average.

If it wasn't it would just be more puzzling (and stressing my point) how you maintained a >70% win record in those 12 matches since it was you getting the HCs ;-)

Although i generally agree, i don't think you should include Handicaps to even the TS difference. I know that the scheduler does it, but a Handicap is usually not nearly worth 5 TS.

EDIT: made a poll of my last comment :-)

I'm still amazed people think the original reason for my petition has anything to do with evidence.

It's the principle that weak coaches need stronger teams to fight good coaches that is wrong in the blackbox, not how much evidence you manage to find.

...and just because I consider yours a personal attack vs ChrisB's position, I'll just spit it out: I have little to no interest about any "fair" judgement that comes from a coach using 0 rrs Ogres in DivB and exploits:

1- The Ogres broken TS problem.
2- The 0 rrs TS problem
3- The "low BR giving easy games" in DivB problem.

There, I said it.

@JanMattys:

What does your petition / do your petitions have to do with this Blog (in response to CrisB's Blog) or the Comments?

I think you mistook something here and I'm not even sure which petition you are refering to? ;-)

Props to treborius for using rational argument to prove his point.

@JanMattys (2):

Lol, just saw your 2nd comment...

...I don't know what your problem is, maybe ChrisB is your wife or something ;-)

...however, sure I'm not buying RRs if they cost me 12 TS, each (for the first 2, at least)

...I don't know what's the Ogres broken TS-problem - I surely aren't doing to well with 'em (might be my missing coaching-abilities, though ;-)

...If you actually followed my reasoning / posts I've actually signed the petition for TS-only Black-Box and surely aren't loosing any games that I can win :-)

...finally, regarding your 1st comment: I still think you're miss-connecting my Blog with one of your petitions, but it has nothing to do with them (in fact I don't even know which one that would be)...

Lol, so: peace, brother.
