Khemries blog: The Rule of Five
Does the rule of five applies to Khemries? Yes. But don't call me minmaxer, just keep reading.

Basically, the rule of five means, that some players on you team should be protected and you should not allow them to get hit/blitzed without a good cause, and the number of such players is five or less. On Khemries offense, this rule becomes "the rule of one" - you have to protect the player with a ball no matter what.

So, let's talk about Khemries defense.

A few things you should know:
1) I talk about BlackBox, CLPOMB heavy environment
2) I often choose Kick first against CLPOMB teams
3) I play with single Thro-Ra, and I keep him on the bench in the defense

What five players should we protect on defense?

2x Blitz-Ra.
1x DP skelly. Yes. You read it right. Keep the foul threat at least for a few turns.
2x TG.

But... Does this means, that 2 TG will not be protected? Yes. The sad truth is, you cannot have all 4 TG developed (3+ skills) in the Box team. At least for a substantial period of time.

Rule of five leads to the interesting conclusion. Khemries team should aim to have 2 developed "offensive" TGs (top priority skills: mighty blow, block, break tackle... +STR), and 2 "meat shield" TGs (guard, and mighty blow if they survive long enough).

Quite similar to Nurgz really

Interesting read, thanks for the insight!

Maybe there should be a series "applying" the Rule of Five to different races, each article written by a coach who's rather competent with the particular race... an idea for the GLN?

i just dont agree with kick first. 4 mb blocks and foul is something i never avoid with khemris. U like to strike them first and strike them hard.

At the moment I'm following The Rule of Two with my Khemri squad. And that's one Legend Blitz-Ra and 1 Legend TG. I had to fire my other 3 TGs as I couldn't get a game with the team outside of Majors or Smacks. This is in Ranked if you haven't already guessed and pretty much the only team outside of League I use nowadays. Now I find it slightly easier to get games although most people still avoid playing them. And I have to run without any DP and minimal Tackle and MB to achieve that.

Interesting read, I'm actually having trouble keeping my TGs alive at all atm.
Probably because they're tied up in the main scrum. (Not protected that is)
If I ever get another Block one, I will probably protectid it.
Or is it worth protecting even TGs with only one skill?
I tend to take guard first, because my league is very guard-heavy and I don't want to be outblocked just because of that...

I agree with the kick first btw, unless you meet an 11 man team with few dodgers.
It's way easier to snowball and even steal the ball on defence.

obviously doesn't apply. next!

I believe the rule of five is a false design. I hope guys actually try this. Once I take out two of the five I'm sure most guys will fold like deck chair. All that TV put into only 5 players just means that everyone taken out is a major drop in a teams capability.
