Starting to [B]ox
With the fast approaching release of the FFB client, and the conversion of the Blackbox division to FFB I've decided to start a Box team. While my current, un-played, Pro Elf box team will continue to languish un-played, and unloved due to the lack of Pass Block I have decided to branch out, to stretch my wings and see what develops.

My comfort zone is rather vanilla, Humans, Orcs, with sprinklings of Pro Elves. I debated starting a Human team in B but decided that I should push myself. I then debated working with my current B team, the Pro Elves, but again decided to go a different direction.

I settled on three possible options.

1) Norse
2) Goblins
3) Undead

1) Norse
I like the feel of a Norse team, lots of block, frenzy, and two solid ST 4 positionals with the option of a Big Guy as well, a solid bashing lineup with Block+Dodge possibilities that make my mouth water. Their principal drawback was AV 7, and the distinct feeling that in order to play a Norse team well I was going to have to casualty hunt, and foul. Two things I dislike doing.

2) Goblins
More fun then a barrel of monkeys, I love goblins. I love trolls, I love throw team mate, and I love cheap disposable stunty players. However, with Ball & Chain, and Bombadier yet to be implemented that ices Goblins for the moment.

3) Undead
I have never played an Undead team, yet I lost the one table top tournament I went to to a low-TR Undead team. This, plus the solid hitting power of the Mummies, and the speed of the Ghouls and Wights caught my eye. The lack of an Apothecary worries me, but in my experience playing against Undead they don't seem to get hurt often. The principal drawback is that the positionals are expensive.

I'm thinking, at this point, the the Undead will be my next project, with over 30 games coaching humans under my belt I think a deader, rotten, approach will be a breath of fetid air.

Undead are a natural progression from humans. They play very similarly. Don't worry about the lack of an apoth, to be honest regen is as good as an apoth in FFB anyway (50% chance of recovering for next drive)

Norse will probably be the most competetive team of those you mentioned if you want your team to grow and not have to stay at a certain level.
Norse linos are fun to use since you get to add those extra skills that you normaly will never have the time for or feel that they raise the tv to much. Fend, new shadowing looks pretty usefull ect.
Av7 is not an disadvantage when you play vs teams with a high amount of claw.. its just a wasted skill :)
The snow troll will give you an edge vs the dwarfs and other thickly armoured creatures and the blitzer and ulfrenners will tear through everybody else with a combo of mb and piling on.
S go with norse and you will be a bashing star and actually winn a few games.

With ud you will winn a few games early but the mumies will be very exposed and an ud team stands and falthers with its mummies.

Just to clarify: Until 15 january, Box teams still play by LRB4 rules. That means pass block works, and Norse have the old roster with no ST4 guys etc.

More Blackbox players, hurrah!

Considering there have only been about 2 B games scheduled in the last month, I think you'll have to wait til it starts as FF[B] to get a game

Go Undead, though TTM in FFB client is the funnest/funniest thing ever!

Undead FTW! They're even better in the new ruleset I think: more viable skill choices for wights. Also, the spiralling expenses rule means most teams cap at TV's not much higher than the Undead optimum! Yay! :)

We'll see if spiraling expenses actually works out that way, Ravenmore. I suspect that teams will grow considerably past that point, due to cash not counting toward TV, and therefore not impacting spiraling expenses either.

Very good choices, minus the Undead.

Goblins rock!

Norse are the manliest man team for manly men!

Clearly a team designed for people with big balls.
