An update
Well, the tempoary loss of the second job has turned into the permanant loss of said second job after a surprisingly nasty email form the near-life-long "friend" who got me the job. I won't go into it here, but suffice to say, I am dicked over again in my life for trusting the handshake agreement of someone I thought was noble.

In actuality, I was already starting to job hunt, as y'all know after he told me "not this week, next week" for three weeks, when he had apparently decided to cut staff three weeks ago, starting with his friend, to save money, but instead left me in limbo for three weeks that I could have used to find a new job.

I have been able to pick up extra shifts at whole foods this week, and have a line on at least three new jobs.

The problem is the gap. The solution is the fact that I can drain my 401k (retirement account) at a penalty at with Whole Foods in order to get the money for my rent

The problem with that is that I can only make the "hardship" withdrawl to avoid eviction if I am already being threatened with eviction, which is sort of like putting a fire extinguisher in a box which can only be opened by setting it on fire. In other words, really really stupid.

Saturday, I will contact my apartment manager to see if I can get them to sign a paper threatening to kick me out so I can send it to the company so I can get what I need to keep them from kicking me out. Of course this will tip my hand to them so who knows what will happen.

Ironically, despite the fact that it is small, and in an inconvenient location, we've taken quite a liking to this place . . . sort of reminds me of a "hobbit house" which people here might understand.

Hopefully it will go well. If it doesn't I have no idea what is going to happen, but I have decided to avoid making any long term decisions until I know what is going to happen. But leave it to me to have he situation where right when it seems as if things are going to be okay. Life kicks me in he nuts and tells me what to go do with myself, leaving me in the sort of surrealist catch-22 that Monty Python loved to make fun of.

Thanks for the update mate and glad to hear you're keeping your chin up despite it all.

Ive been in the same boat my friend. There are places where you can go work as a day labourer. Its probably not a good choice, but its better than having to raid your retirement. I wish you the best sir.
