Just when you think things are okay, life gives you a turn 16 foul.
I really did not want to do this, and it breaks me to have to post this.

A few days ago, a strange, large charge which we did not recognize hit our bank account. IT turns out that it was an old debt from back when we were still in Texas after Katrina finally tracked us down and hit us after we had forgotten about it. (Still not sure what it is.) It happened at an extremely bad time. While I have not been able to find a permanent second job yet, I had been able to pull extra shifts at my current job to cover the difference. However, now, due to Mardi Gras, my job had to cut hours. The result is that it took what we had and overdrew us. After an extremely hard week, my fiancee and I decided to into effect the absolute-last-choice fallback plan that we had made before, but did not have to use. put her mother in a homeless shelter, and move in with a relative of mine in Texarkana, despite hte fact that there have been problems with this relative in the past.

As such, I did not say anything because I figured that was that.

However, last night, my relative went back on her word, and is wavering between refusal and putting strange conditions in that would make it almost impossible. We very well may no longer have that backup plan, and need to try to stabilize if possible.

I was not going to do this again. I was going to pretty much going to close up shop on my life, which would be pretty much over as I know it. As far as here goes, I had planned to quietly finish out my league responsibilities, even if I had to do it from a library computer or such, an then quietly resign my teams and say good-bye, disappear and be out of everyone's hair.

Some friends of mine in another place (facebook and IRL) however, have talked me into giving survival one more try. So, sorry, but that's what I am doing. I have updated the old gofundme, and am putting the link back here.

If you cannot help (which I understand) please spread the link through whatever sites/communities, etc that you have and maybe it can reach far enough that I can find a way. If you are upset or hurt or angry that I have had to/have done this again, I am sorry, please ignore it. Believe me, I am already beating my head into a wall over this, my bad luck, and what feels like an utter failure in my life.

Just let me say a blanket thank you, not just for this, but for Fumbbl itself. You are all one of hte best damn communities on the internet, which, as we know, can be a not very great place that brings out the worst in people. Fumbbl, despite the fact that we spend our time bashing each other's pixels to a pixel pulp is filled with some of the greatest people I have ever met. I brag about y'all constantly to people, even if I have to explain to them what Blood Bowl is. . .and then try to get them to learn the game and join.

Donated. You shouldn't be embarrassed to ask for help even though it's a tough thing to do. It sounds like you've hit a rough patch & I'm happy to help. This is a great community and I'd like to keep you in it!

You I'm guilty of rating things a 1 here & there, but to rate something like this a 1 you have to be a grade A loser w/ absolutely no compassion or empathy for your fellow man. Be ashamed of yourself & pray that you yourself never end up in such dire straights! Or, and I don't wish this on anyone, but maybe you need to end up like this if only for the lesson it will teach you. Rated 6 for having the courage & strength of will to ask for help. As the great Jim Valvano once said, "Don't give up, NEVER give up."

" put her mother in a homeless shelter"... damn, what a fucked up country you live in. =( I'll put up a banner to your gofundme on my stream soon, and urge people to donate. Good luck bud.

@the_Sage: Yeah, and homeless shelters here are not very nice or particularly safe, especially since she is blind and needs a walker.

THat's why I am doing this again. If it was only me, I would quietly disappear and let the world move on without me.

I was praying when i got the update mail that things would have been better for you Rene, I'm crap at giving to charity when I can afford to but I have no issue helping someone I've played on here. I really hope you can get through this, if people can donate to get a shiny badge on here, then there's definitely a few quid/dollars/euros that can be spared for one of our fellows

Am sorry to hear about your situation, and at the risk of sounding patronizing I would like to tell you to just keep hanging on and putting one foot in front of the other - and you never know when life might change for the better at the most unexpected moment. Wishing you the best

"As far as here goes, I had planned to quietly finish out my league responsibilities, even if I had to do it from a library computer or such, an then quietly resign my teams and say good-bye, disappear and be out of everyone's hair."
From one desperate person to another, please don't do this.

"Long is the way & hard that out of hell leads up to light."
~John Milton

"Self-pity is easily the most destructive of the non-pharmaceutical narcotics; it is addictive, gives momentary pleasure and separates the victim from reality. It will parch your attitudes, it will paralyze your abilities, and it will put off your achievements. It prohibits excellence and prevents expansion."
~Unknown

"Many of life’s failures are endured by people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." ~Unknown

"Our feelings of dissatisfaction, unhappiness & loss of hope are in fact related to all phenomena. If we do not adopt the right outlook, it is possible that anything & everything could cause us frustration. Yet phenomena are part of reality & we are subject to the laws of existence. So this leaves us only one option: to change our own attitude. By bringing about a change in our outlook towards things & events, all phenomena can become friends or sources of happiness, instead of becoming enemies or sources of frustration." ~The 14th Dalai Lama

"The world is full of evil & pain, lies & death. And you can’t hide from it, you can only face it. The question is when you do how do you respond? Who do you become?" ~Phil Coulson

"We are defined by how we handle adversity. Be there when it counts. Love fully in the good times & the bad." ~Unknown

"Never give in. Never give in. Never. Never. Never. In nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor & good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently over-whelming might of the enemy." ~Winston Churchill

NEVER give up Rene. You ARE a value to this world my friend & I KNOW I am not the only one that thinks that. Be well & stay strong & know that you are NOT alone. All the best bud.

I just donated - hopefully it will help contribute towards your goal, Rene. Please don't give up - life is too short as it is and things can (and will) get better! Keep the faith and you will get the break you need soon!
