In reading forum posts regarding the raz on people who get "too attached" to their players, here's a bit of wisdom.
The American Indians believe that when a person creates something, such as pottery, a house or a chair for example, a part of that person's soul enters the object. The time spent in designing the object, gathering the materials and completing the project imbues the creation and creates a bond between the object and it's creator.
The same analogy can be applied to designing a Blood Bowl team. The player selects the race, buys the players, names them and then hopes the team plays well and grows better with time.
It's human nature to have attachment to something you had a hand in creating and it sucks when another goes out of their way to destroy that creation.
Sure it stinks when during the course of a normal game the other coach gets in some lucky rolls and desimates the team. But I'm refering to those who just destroy for the sake of destruction and then use the "it's in the rules" excuse.
However, there is another Human Being on the other side of the computer screen. They understand what Blood Bowl is about. But consider this, you wouldn't want someone to bust a hole in a house just built or scratch up a new car you just bought and then have the nerve to say "don't take it personally."
The same concept can be applied to playing Blood Bowl. Don't go out of your way to destroy another player's team for the sake of trying to destroy it. Then have the nerve to imply that the victim "shouldn't take it personally." They will, especially when there's gloating involved. It's insulting and a virtual slap in the face.
There I've said it.
