Luck here and in the Cyanide game
So I bought the Cyanide version of Blood Bowl. It was on sale and I had nothing to do for the evening. I bought if for the Xbox, which meant I got totally screwed as apparently you can't develop your team while playing online. The single player AI is weak to be generous.

BUT. And here is a very weird thing. There is a tremendous difference in dice rolls. In the Cyanide version I would count as a real lucker. I often land clean hits on blodgers, passes have a way of working out etc. Here on Fumbbl I have awful rolls and by now I've played enough matches to not accept the "it all evens out in the end" argument.

Have anyone else played the Cyanide game and felt a difference in luck regarding the dice rolls? Can the Cyanide generator possibly be "rigged" to allow more succesful rolls?

my guess is that they have rigged the dice...my reasoning, could you imagan those guys on COD who swear their heads off when they are the first to die trying to play bloodbowl... I could but I realy don't want to imagan such a stain on a great game.

In short, rage quits galor, people not buying the game, etc.

I've noticed that I suck no matter what version of the game I play... :(

I would hazard a gess that you seem luckier because the standard of opponent you are playing is lower. Therefore you aren' punished for a mistake or string of bad rolls as much, therefore you don't feel as unlucky.

For example on fumbbl if in the first turn you have 2 players injured and one KO'd you will struggle to pull it back and it will seem that every roll is going against you. On Cyanide you can still expect to pull off a win.

As for the AI, I am not an amazing coach but i have never lost a game vs it on 'hard'. Never even gone to a draw. Until the AI understands what turn it is it will always be crap.

Play 100 games on both then you will probably notice that your luck has evened out.

While I have no doubt that the Cyanide RNG could be rigged (from what I know of 'AIs' in other games, My understanding is that Cyanide's game uses an unrigged RNG for all purposes.

Their AI gets to see what rolls are coming up, but otherwise I understand the RNG is 'fair'.

Commonly the single player modus is handled by other means then manipulating the randomizer. Without having the single player of bb played I'd expect to face more developed teams as opponents to provide a challenge.
Ie. what an AI lacks in intellect it usually compensates by brute force.
But heh... maybe Cyanide didn't even figure that out.. who knows...

freak_,

Hmm, no, I don't judge luck based on if I'm winning or not. I've had some freakish success with the dice rolls in almost all Cyanide matches. Scoring like 3 RIP's and a bunch of KO's against a dwarf team while not fouling and just having a few mb's doesn't add up, even if I pounded them a lot more than I would against a skilled coach here. Or making a bunch of passes with my orc team. I don't even succeed that much with elves here on Fumbbl, hehe.

actually pounding them more does make a difference...
ofc you need luck aswell... but one gets that here and there...
I wonder about my luck on fumbbl often enough...

RNG is borked!

I don't feel more or less lucky with Cyanide but I noticed that the rolls are much more clustered, i.e. 1s, 6s, skulls and pows show up all at once. I've never had so many double skulls, snakes, but also pows on 1D here on fumbbl.

Jokaero,

That's interesting. Because in 30+ matches in the Cyanide version I've had 1 double skull, which I could re-roll into a succesful block. 1 in 30. Here on Fumbbl I would be very surprised if I go a single match without a double skull.

Seeing how the Cyanide single player game is very easy I also throw a lot more risky blocks, simply because I can afford the risk. And the success rate for 1d blocks etc is staggering.

Still, 30 or so matches isn't a great deal, but it's a weird coincidence. I've always felt that I've been unlucky here on Fumbbl while I generally have quite good luck with board games etc. Maybe I'm really cursed by some Fumbbl deity ;)
