FUMBBL Enhanced Editor
As a Coach who enjoys to fluff his teams, there’s always been a few things in the FUMBBL Bio Editing pages that has bugged me. Whilst not all of them are pertinent to this, a couple of things that is, are as follows:

1) The textarea is relatively small, unless you still happen to be using a 800 by 600 resolution
2) The assumption that we create bios with dull old plain text, and the edit feature assumes our new lines are exactly that, which plays havoc with our lovely HTML, inserting unsightly black lines everywhere.

I know these minor peeves are not mine alone, searching on the forum shows many threads akin to this:
FUMBBL Break Insertion

And there are several posts in the Ideas forum asking for a larger edit textarea.

The fact is, there’s a lot of Ideas and Suggestions, and to my knowledge only one man that is in a position to act on them directly.
Like most of us, I’m sure he’s very busy with Work, and RL, so what we have recently seen is that more and more members of the community are taking steps to improve things for the community at large.

Most notably this came in the form of half a dozen members setting up proxy servers to enable those that can’t direct connect to continue to play this wonderful hobby in a manner that they have become accustomed to and love.

Greasemonkey scripts have also been created recently (Momfreek, Laviak to name two authors) to provide new functionality and enhance the FUMBBL website and this is where the FUMBBL Enhanced Editor also fits right in.

Requiring both FireFox and Greasemonkey, this installable script primarily addresses the two issues mentioned above, but it also aims to help out in assisting with some of the more complex bio editing by offering simple buttons or select boxes to create a fully fledged HTML bio.

Version 1.1’s features currently includes:
Larger Textarea for editing (Configurable size)
Add/Remove HTML Comments for removing the Breaks <br> that FUMBBL inserts
Insert HTML Element - for adding font formatting, links, images, Show/Hide button etc... (Configurable)
Insert Image - Insert Player Icons at a click (Configurable)
Create Table - for ease of creating FUMBBL style tables

These images help to highlight some of the features:

Table creation and player images at a click - in v1.1

Increased textarea size with additional features for editing ( v1.1 has more options)

The script has been tested to work on the following FUMBBL edit pages:
Team Bios
Player Bios
Group Pages
Coach Profile Page

For more information on installing the script, please see the relevant forum post:
http://fumbbl.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=13851&start=0

I’m off on holiday for a week a little later, but I hope to see evidence of the script used in more bios when I return! ;)
