2nd double for Rat Ogre - how to spend it?
Block, Guard Rat Ogre Ralph https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=9361586 of team Die Harder! https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team&op=view&team_id=727880 rolled 5+5. Yummie, but how to spend it best? AV+ to make the big guy less fragile, Pro to make him more reliable or Claw because it's Claw?
Not the first "what next" question, gets a bit inflationary, but couldn't resist as your previous suggestions were really helpful.

I see a strong case for diving catch,
but in the end i would take
teh craw

double?
let's take two things in account.... he got BLOCK and GUARD. and since it doesn't lose its tacklezones if it fails the wild animal roll.... the choice would be SIDE STEP.

then watch him surf around like crazy, and support your offense.

side step would be funny but for me its pain time. either give him claw or horns ;-D
Posted by krysskroz on 2013-05-25 15:06:23
I have to say that SS would be awesome and claw is gonna make it harder to get matches in R. If it were Box I would say claw all the way.
Posted by Meanandugl on 2013-05-25 15:10:20
Side Step or Horns? Not considered these options so far. Food for thought indeed. Thanks

Claw Claw Claw Claw Claw Claw Claw. Are you mad :)

Though Tackle would be the fun option, claw will make it harder to get games in Ranked, Tackle + Prehensile Tail is evil. Similarly Diving Tackle could be lots of fun.

Diving Tackle?? Nice, but not for Ralph. Having Frenzy this guy is a surfer. And as you may know SURFERS DO IT STANDING UP! :-)
Posted by Overhamsteren on 2013-05-25 15:34:55
dodge or claw
Posted by awambawamb on 2013-05-25 15:35:55
yep.
...remember the noble art of surfing and think to the best gear for them. surf ain't just a matter of STANDING STILL in the wave, but you need to think different, catch the moment and be ready to SIDE STEP away to ride the wave.

may the Calexico guide you.

claw or dodge. probably dodge. claw is for stormvermin and socially challenged coaches. sidestep is fancy but doesnt really help the rat playstyle.

Claw

you're a 7av team. If you have to deal with injuries, so should everyone else.

claw, the great equalizer
Posted by Rat_Salat on 2013-05-25 21:37:51
Claw is the first double on Rat Ogres. Pro is the second.

Block is for roadblock bigs.

Have you considered JU to help keep him mobility?
Posted by Tremendous on 2013-05-26 00:23:36
Erm, tackle?
Posted by Mateuszzzzzz on 2013-05-26 01:00:26
claw.

So many excellent coaches and so many different opinions. Thanks a lot for all your comments. I have not yet made a decision. Not one of you bothered to even mention AV+. Clear enough, won't consider it any longer. DT and JU are not my taste here. However, Claw and Pro are still candidates. Dodge and Tackle anyway are among my preferred skills. And to make it a little more difficult Side Step (being German the abbreviation SS is a no go) is just cool. Last but not least I don't want to build a team that rarely gets matches in R.
Damn difficult for a coach with just over 3 months bb experience.
Now that this text is lengthy anyway a few more words won't do much additional damage: Bloodbowl on FUMBBL is the most addictive time bandit I've come across for years. Thanks to Christer, the admins, the league organisators and all the coaches that played vs. me. This is big fun and I am pretty sure you won't get rid of me any time soon :-)

jump up cause next is the PILE ON!

Pro would be my choice.

Taken in isolation - Claw is a good choice for a rat ogre - but looking at your team, you already have a ST 4 claw/mb/tackle blitzer. Since you have other players to blitz with - it means that you are going to have your blitz less available for you rat ogre - and that means more often the dreaded 4+ WA roll. Pro is also wonderful since with block, you can use pro to constantly RR neutral block dice.

Looking at your team I agree w/ Azure. Pro would be my choice also w/ tackle next then dodge.
Posted by harvestmouse on 2013-05-26 10:26:30
Dodge or Pro. Dodge is great for 2 reasons.

1. Gives freedom (with break tackle) to go for things.
2. It really puts people off hitting them. ST 5 blodgers is a real waste of a blitz (unless you have something specifically geared for taking down such a thing.
Posted by harvestmouse on 2013-05-26 10:27:41
And pro negates his WA somewhat. Gives you confidence in using him more, thus more running amok.
Posted by the_Sage on 2013-05-26 12:45:11
dodge, claw, or pro.

if claw, then PO next.
if dodge, then BT next, then stand firm.
pro, meh... pro.
Posted by Meanandugl on 2013-05-26 19:41:06
I followed Azure's arguments and opted for PRO. Very difficult decision however. Think I need 2 more doubles for this guy :-).
Thanks again for your contributions.

You made a fine call, among several fine calls. Pro is absolutely great on big guys. It combos better with Bonehead/RS where fails are worse, but it's also good in conjunction with Frenzy. I'd say it's a clear second-best doubles-choice for non-mutating big guys, and in this case is fine. You also could have taken Dodge, Claw, Tackle, or Side Step, those would have been good choices too. I'd argue that Pro and Dodge are the best calls. I would rather have Stand Firm eventually and Pro or Dodge now, rather than Side Step now and some S skill later. Claw would make him dangerous until he dies. You can't have too much Tackle, but you can take it on lucky 2-skill linerats, and he's already got Frenzy, so whatever.
