I’m getting very close to finishing off all 80 stars from BB16. Completed one more recently leaving just 5.



Forgeworld already have a really nice model for Kreek, annoyingly I made mine a while ago, just like with Rumbellow. He is based off a Stormfiend, which makes it a pretty large model on a 50mm base. Not all that practical in terms of gameplay, but he is a decent representation of the illustration.

There wasn’t much info on colour scheme, so I had a look at colours associated with Clan Skyre, the most tech heavy clan. They use green, a dirty white and bronze, which I thought would look pretty good as the rest of him would mostly be flesh and metal.

He was given quite a tanned skintone, those always suit big guys better to my eyes since it gives more scope for highlights. I initially painted his fur dark brown and added grey to highlight so as to avoid it looking too much like the leather straps. This didn’t turn out that great and it was switched to a colder brown highlight.

His armour was painted mid green and his loin cloth white, with bone and brown shading, to make it suitably grimy. Most of the metallic parts silver, I added a brown wash to make it look slightly oily and rusty. The edges of his armour was painted bronze, as were certain key parts like the engine on his back and the power source. The model was looking a tad on the dull side, so I added a green glow coming from the warptone parts on his chest legs and the bionic eye as well as painting the tubing bright green.





I’d been converting and painting nothing but stars since I finished the Human/Old World team for the NAF GT in 2020. It was a nice change to be asked to paint up a team for someone.

The brief was to use the GW plastics, with some additional Forgeworld and Underworlds models and a few minor conversions thrown in. Colours were to be green, white and gold with grey skin, the cold one hides would be colour coded; brown for linemen, yellow for runner and red for blitzers. Aside from that I was given a lot of freedom to make my own choices. I had a bunch of bits left over from my dark elf star conversions, a sprue from Dungeonbowl and bought another boxed set to fill out the team.



Initially I went for a cold green, which would be more associated with Dark Elves, we also looked at whether to do the boots and gloves black or try out pink. I made a couple of test models to see how these would look, giving them one pink and one black boot/glove. The initial green looked far too drab and pink didn’t go with the rest of the scheme. We decided to opt for black and a much brighter green, scorpion green was the colour I used and is a classic GW paint from 20+ years ago.





The first batch of model I painted was the linemen, which included the test model but much of him was repainted to a higher standard. 3 of the linemen are the standard model, whilst the last had a minor conversion to reposition limbs.





No changes were made to the assassins, highlights on their cloaks were kept light to ensure they looked black. I was worried the male assassin would look have too much of the same black on him and so changed his loin cloth and face mask to have green rather than grey highlights.





The cheerleaders and Eldril are the standard Forgeworld models with no changes. I’d been thinking of painting Eldril again, having only done the 2nd edition version a long time ago.



I hate duplicates in Blood Bowl teams, there are usually only 2 dozen model max, if you include stars and staff, so all players should be individuals. For the 2nd batch of linemen I did some limb and head swaps and mixed in a couple of bits from other elf players.



One of the runners uses a topknot from a dark eldar warrior, whilst the other has a head from a Black Guard. I also switched the legs in with a lineman and did some arm and hand swaps to make them clearly different from each other.



The witch elves were completely changed, these both came from the Warhammer Underworlds unit along with the sorcerer. They were switched to normal BB bases and the gloves from the witch elves were swapped to remove the knives.



The last models to convert were the Blitzers, these were the hardest as it was effectively 4 identical models. I ended up swapping in some legs from an elf union player and bodies from linemen. There were also arms swaps from other players as well. Heads came from executioners.
