I’ve made more progress on the Dark Elf team. Seems like I have got even slower as a painter now and batches of 2-4 players are taking 2 weeks rather than 1. Some of that was down it being summer and not wanting to spend time indoors when the weather is nice.


Linemen
The 2nd batch of linemen was painted in the same way as the first, all the changes were done at the model level so they didn’t need anything different.





Runners
The biggest difference was the cold one skins. These were to have yellow scales and it was tricky to get these bright enough whilst also having the hide look realistic. I ended up giving the scales a yellow glaze. I’ve largely stopped using washes and glazes as I didn’t like how they look, but it is useful if you want something to look glossy. The other difference was their topknots, I settled on red as it was a good colour to stand out, without overloading the model.





Blitzers
Again the biggest change was with the cold one skin. This time it had red scales and these were pretty easy to get right as red is always a fun colour for me to paint with, the skin was easier as well since I could use a reddish brown. The other significant change was the skull masks, I often use grey as the base coat for bones to give them an ancient appearance. This time I used brown as the base coat, since it makes them look fresher and the warm colour works better with the scheme.




Witch elves
These models have a lot more exposed skin, which actually made them easier to paint as I’ve always found skin easier than armour and the white clothing is challenge too. They also have a lot of hair, which is always time consuming with so many surfaces to highlight. I went for bright blue hair, which goes all the way to white for the very end highlights, ends up looking a bit like waves. Which is kid of appropriate as the dark elves are a sea faring race.




Sorcerer
The team wizard is from the same set as the witch elves. She has a bit more clothing and armour, as well as a spear. I did experiment with some NMM techniques on the spear blade, it turned out ok, but maybe should have had more extreme highlights.
She also has a fair bit more silver and gold o her armour, along with the goblet, those turned out a bit better.





Last outstanding items are the cheerleaders, Eldril, markers and the bases.
