Making logo
I have looked around through blogs and forums and I am sure it is talked about somewhere. I have been fortunate enough in the past to have some kind people offer to make me a logo or two, but I feel like this is something I should be able to do myself. So would anyone be kind enough to give the idiots beginners steps to making cool logos?

Funny enough. one of the 6th grade "Draw your own" monsteers/etc books are perfect for this too. After you have drawn it copy it onto the computer and use a free editor (gimp works fine) to clean up the lines!

If your not much for coloring or want shading im sure posting the pic and asking for shading will get you a bunch of volunteer color schemes

Looking at that guide, the first thing I'd do is add the alpha channel and remove the background.

As you may find the image you copy has a transparent background already. It will also be easier to cut out, rather than cutting out the pictures background and the original background.

Google or duckduckgo, search images.

Find an image you like. Check it isn't really a copyrighted one or at least one that'll get the site in trouble - no GW stuff.

Open up the image in GIMP or Photoshop, cut it out, use a fancy font or cooltext.com to whip up some text, and voila. Logo.

Text is not a necessary part of a logo, and should only be added if it is either a central component to said logo (think the 49ers "SF" logo or the NY Jets), or the text adds some flare to the design.
