Whirr-ining about the dice
(Chainsaw's whirr... whining lots... whirr-ining... get it? Nevermind...)
I usually speak a lot during games. This tends to happen whether the dices are nice or otherwise, but especially when things go wrong for me and right for my opponent.
Normally my banter is met with a general silence.
My point? Is that how you'd play in person? Would you sit there, ponderous, muted, ignoring the good and the bad? Shrug off jokes with eye rolls, praying for the opponent to remain quiet whilst you prepare your strategy?
I know it's the Internet, and that we may never meet, nor ever have much more in common than this bizarre little fantasy world of ours. However, wouldn't it be more fun for all if you vocalize the action, decry the dice, and roar on the pixel blood as if you were playing table top?
Or maybe I just stop whirr-ining and play with a little more “dignity”.

I'm happy to 'comment on the game' with you but if you are mainly whining about the dice then I'll probably say nothing more until the cya.
Commenting to p*ssed off people just seems to p*ss them off even more..
Some lols or smilies amongst the whines helps create a different atmosphere.

if the opponent is moaning about dice, i often say something like 'harsh!' or whatever
but there's not much further you can say. if he keeps whining, i don't feel like i'm obliged to keep commiserating
(I often complain about my dice but try and not get actually upset about it, like if my ball carrier stacks his face into the grass on a GFI for the second time i'll probably lol about it)
also, chat can be just distracting. sometimes deliberately, but sometimes you just want to concentrate.
some people probably feel they play better if they aren't being friendly and joking around, and the chat undermines from the seirus buiznuss of the game

he was sad that it broke, but also saw the funny side.
it taught me that when something bad happens that you can't fix, getting upset is of no benefit, but being able to laugh at it is healthy

Never apologise for having good dice or your opponent having terrible dice.
You get a kill? Say you're player is a killer, chat in a style consistent with your fluff. Trip somebody up? "Heel tap!"
If somebody is suffering bad dice, if you chat with them, they'll be less bothered about the dice.

My friends really don't play on FUMBBL, so there's a huge mismatch in skill levels. I spend less time worrying about luck and more worrying about how not to make them never want to play me again. (the one league I got them to play on FUMBBL, I ran the table with rookie vamps)
Aside from that, playing TT I spend a lot of time in side conversations, as my friends refuse to implement the 4-minute turn rule (an average game lasts 2-3 hours).

I try to chat and joke about luck...
But I have to admit that when "one of those matches" happens (and I mean those matches that "when things can go bad, the go worse") I have some difficulty to mantain a good mood
A double skull is ok. A blitz, followed by a snake, a dead legend, a turnover, a pitch invasion with 8 stunned player... well... it upset me XD

yawnage! this is not the same as playing in person and it never can be. fumbbl is good at what it does but coaches play with a different mind set on here, to what they would face to face.
