An issue where joining in as a spectator could sometimes lock just after the game was updated has been fixed. Spectating should be more stable as of now.

Another day of stability. Games are being played, and no further reports of gameplay issues. We've pushed version 2.0.1 which has a bit more debug information and a small change to detect a possible error mode before the game starts. We will continue monitoring and if the skill issue crops up again we can hopefully identify in detail what is happening.

All in all, the weekend's maintenance has been smoother than I could have hoped for and we're officially not going to roll back at this point. Despite it only being a bb2016 update this weekend, this is a very big step towards BB2020. The full support for that will continue to roll onto the site in small steps as I outlined in a previous blog.

The updated server and client has been fairly stable today, with most things running as expected after the update at noon. We have seen one issue which seems rare, where certain skills are non-functional during the game. It is potentially related to bad connections and disconnections during the start sequence of a match, but we have not been able to fully pinpoint the root cause. We have a preliminary guess as to what may be happening, and are considering ways to improve debug logging to pin it down in more detail.

We will keep monitoring this issue through tomorrow and hopefully get to the bottom of what exactly causes this issue.

If you run into this issue in a game, please note down which skill or skills are available in the match and whether or not they work (we need information on both sets), and if there were any disconnections either connecting to the game in the first place or during the match. Also make a note of whether or not it was a gamefinder or blackbox game or manually started with a game name. Potentially, this will only affect BB2016 rule games, but make a note of that too so we can be sure.

The scheduling issue has now been fixed and deployed to the live environment. Gamefinder and Blackbox have been restarted and things should once again be running as normal.

An additional issue cropped up overnight, where MA10 players under bb2016 rules were not functioning properly. This has also been fixed as part of this morning's update.

As a final little thing, the client has been bumped to version 2.0.0 (from 1.4.1). Nothing but a fairly arbitrary version number change, but feels like a big deal regardless :)

Essentially, things are working well. Games are generally speaking being played properly without any critical issues as of yet.

The only major issue we have run into is that matches scheduled through Blackbox or Gamefinder are not functioning as they should (no teams are loaded, and the game just skips to the end of the 2nd half with no result being uploaded to the site). We have identified the cause of this, but the fix is a bit of a complex one.

This particular issue isn't critical enough to roll back for, so for the time being, Gamefinder and Blackbox services are shut down and will remain down until we have had the time to fix it (expecting tomorrow). Until then, manual match starting with game names will be the way to play.

As always, I will be on Discord to respond to questions and give more frequent status updates, so feel free to join us there. As a side-note, it's also a good place to find other people to play games against while the gamefinder is down.
