We're currently about 5 days behind the 1M matches mark by the end of the year. Someone asked me if there were more games being played in certain months, so I decided to take a look.
This is what I came up with:

avg56 = The average percentage of matches played for the month in 2005 and 2006.
exp = The expected total number of matches for 2007, using the actual number of games played and the percentage.
Summing up the matches before 2007, we had 747496 matches played. This means that to hit the 1M mark in 2007, we need to have 252504 matches played over the course of the year.
If we average the expected total for 2007, we get 251841 matches, which is 663 matches short, which is about 1 day.
So... You people need to start playing a bit more!
