All the league news fit to print and then some!

Compiled from across FUMBBL, this is all the league news that's come to my little furry ears. If you know more that is going on, please let razmus know so he can add it to the next edition, which as quiet as things have been lately, should be third week in July or so.

The census says that there are 978 distinct, active coaches on FUMBBL who play in leagues. Two numbers are given for the range of the league size, because there isn't a single good indicator. When the numbers are very different - the league may be in flux, have some deadwood teams/coaches in their locker rooms, or be at the start or end of a cycle/season. Numbers very close together should be pretty close to the 'actual' active coach population (whatever that means) for the group.

We've hit a quiet period for a lot of leagues, as we're between seasons, or between tournaments within a season. Several leagues are taking a hiatus for a little bit, but are expected to pick up again. (If you know whether a quiet group on this list has shuttered their doors or when they're anticipated to pick up again, please let me know so I can pass that along.) I can't point to any groups which are necessarily actively recruiting at the moment, but if you're shopping for a league I'd look at any of the ones I've marked 'quiet' or otherwise between seasons or in playoffs. If you're a coach in their target demographic, it will likely be the ideal opportunity to make some new friends. Just be careful... it's the quiet before the storm. As you signup for leagues and tournaments, don't sign-up/commit to more than you can play. Be certain you understand that a commitment now might be for games starting in a week or a month and continue for months or to the end of the year, and keep an eye on how many games in a period of time various groups play. Don't be "that coach" who serially drops out of leagues.

And remember, if you're looking for scheduled Blood Bowl games and your leagues are all (quiet)... the small/minor tournaments in the open environment might be just the tool you need to scratch that itch until your group(s) pick up again.

And yeah, "I'm sure that's your dice you're playing with in your pocket", just remember to have fun!

Current status	The Dog Bowl is very nearly complete, and the 145 KO Cup has a tournament final coming up. 145 Sprints and the Spectacular Solstice Sprint of Slaughter will replace the Open Round Robins at the conclusion of the Dog Bowl, and more is in the works.
Next steps	If you're new to FUMBBL or Blood Bowl, jump in at your leisure. The experimental move to sprints rather than Open Round Robins should make it easier for folks to join with minimal wait and make it easier to find worthy opponents.

Current status	Season 2, with a wait list to replace coaches who drop. Now in round 5 of 7.

Timezone/Region	Europe but with coaches from everywhere. Large, fluff heavy league. (Effectively Global)	✹ 67-68
Rules	BB2020 with modified Secret League, and customized BB2016 skill progression. Only one team per roster.
Current status	Year 11, Winter Friendlies. (Spoiler: They aren't, so most of the games are played by the smallest/newest teams.)
Next steps	Spring regionals, when the big team's coaches drift fondly towards smashing the little guys into the weeds.
To contact	New teams either enter a Youngbloods tournament or the general mix depending on timing, and with a league this large they're almost always recruiting. Current status	Season 42 regular season is just about concluded.

(And perhaps it's just my particular bias, but it's been one of the most 'tie-tastic' seasons I've ever seen... so there might be fewer Bowl games than ever before. The game sponsors will not be happy.) After Bowl Games, returning non-AQ teams get assigned their conferences.. and a variety of sophants and unpaid interns smoke cigars and move teams around in poorly ventilated rooms. If folks were considering bringing non-AQ teams (read: new rookie teams) to NCBB next season, now wouldn't be a bad time to join the Discord and start talking about it.

Join the league now so there aren't more silver teams than bronze... There are still lots of good rosters available, with a limit of two instances of the roster in the league at the present time. (Wait, someone else was crazy enough to take Chaos Renegades?!? Madness!)

Open Play Environments

Competitive
Rules	BB2020 - using the latest rules available. Mega-star ban is in effect.
Activity	Very high activity. This is the primary activity on FUMBBL
To play	Make a team from your Coaches page for the Competitive division and put them in Gamefinder, or activate teams in the Black Box (also now within gamefinder) or seek games on the FUMBBL Discord (the last is more popular with people seeking those last few games to fill a grid.)
Activities	Royal Rookie Rumble for new teams. Brawls for any Competitive team. Brackets break at 1400 and 1800. Minors most recently completed 24 May. Stay alert for the next. Six Major Tournaments spread out across the year, each with their own requirements and some with qualifier tournaments. Grotty Little Tournament qualifiers draw TODAY!

To play	Make a team from the group above (or from your coaches play in the League/Secret League 2020 division) and put them in Gamefinder or seek games on the Secret League Discord
Activities	Old World Rookie Rumble for new teams. New Rumble just started yesterday. Need about twelve more teams for the next Rumble! Old World Brawl for any team... and again, while activity is slow, tournaments will still happen. Bracket breaks at 1000, 1300, 1600, and 2000. [SL]2020 Slam are Slam type instant tournaments for groups of four teams. (just needs interested coaches) [SL]2020 Open Sprint allows teams to compete on points earned in open play, leagues, and touranments. Current season runs from 1 May to 14 June (today!). Anticipate new season starting tomorrow. Other tournaments to start when Seasons enabled on FUMBBL.

Activity	Low

Active Metagroups
Metagroups play in other open environments, against other teams in the environment which aren't necessarily part of the metagroup, for thier own goals


Season	Season 8: May-Aug 2023
Environment	Competitive (Blackbox Scheduler only)
Synopsis	FUMBBL's only officially supported metagroup. Build one or more squads of four teams, and amass points by winning and tying after randomly matching other teams. One team from each roster will have the opportunity to participate in the Steel Gauntlet, it's own special official [C]ompetitive Division tournament. (See Christer's blog linked above for qualifications, etc.)


Season	XXXIX: June 1-30th
Environment	Any/All
Synopsis	Stunty teams across the FUMBBL-verse attempting to beat, kill and maim everyone else... but mostly kill. Accumulate points for building up the biggest stack of corpses, with dwarves counting double. And of course, being stunties... the bodies accumulated from fouls certainly add to the official tally.


Season	LXXX: May 1st to June 30th.
Environment	Competitive, Blackbox, and League (BB2020/SL2020).
Synopsis	A reboot of the original E.L.F. group, Elf teams accumulate points for playing (and more for winning) against a variety of different rosters. Additional awards for filling your dance card, and a special award for taking more casualties than anyone else. (Discord Channel.)

	Synopsis	Chaos Renegades teams as Borg collective. Start vanilla and play against other teams... and as you kill your opponent's players, you add their unique biological signature to the Borg. It was challenging under the BB2016 rules, and I suspect it's even harder now.
