All the league news fit to print and then some!

Compiled from across FUMBBL, this is all the news that's come to my little furry ears. If you know more that is going on, please let razmus know so he can add it to the next edition, which should be early November. Trying to pull in as much of what's going on around FUMBBL so folks can find even more ways not to get all their real-life work done.

The census says that there are 1029 distinct, active coaches on FUMBBL who play in leagues. Two numbers are given for the range of the league size, because there isn't a single good indicator. When the numbers are very different - the league is likely in flux, have some deadwood teams/coaches in their locker rooms, or be at the start or end of a cycle/season. Numbers very close together should be pretty close to the 'actual' active coach population (whatever that means) for the group.

Current status	145 Halloween Goblin Invasion, and 145 Box Challenge have replaced the regular open round robin tournaments, and continue thru the end of October and December respectively -- see datom's blog post on the subject for more information. A whole series of blogs from dentface for the upcoming 145 Anniversary Cup and fun to read, and encourage all to join the event.
Next steps	If you're new to FUMBBL or Blood Bowl, jump in at your leisure. The experimental move to sprints rather than Open Round Robins should make it easier for folks to join with minimal wait and make it easier to find appropriate opponents.

Rules	BB2020 resurrection/non-progression with promotion and relegation
Current status	Season 3 continues at a fair pace. There are seven rounds, but they're two weeks each. (I've been slaughtered in round three, so if you were considering joining next season, I'll see you in the bottom swiss.)
Next steps	Promotion, relegation and recruiting. If you're interested come back early in 2024.

Timezone/Region	Europe but with coaches from everywhere. Large, fluff heavy league. (Effectively Global)	✹ 67-68
Rules	BB2020 with modified Secret League, and customized BB2016 skill progression. Only one team per roster.
Current status	Year 11, Summer special tournaments are just shy of the half-way point.
Next steps	Year 11, Fall/autumn tournaments are grouped by prestige. NOW is a good time to bring a new team into CIBBL, as you'd likely get to play in a Youngbloods tournament, then go into the Fall with other newer teams.
To contact	New teams either enter a Youngbloods tournament or the general mix depending on timing, and with a league this large they're almost always recruiting. If you're an established FUMBBL coach who has been considering joining CIBBL, now is the perfect time! Contact C0ddlefish and/or join them on the SL Discord in their own section. (But be aware, a lot goes into the administration of this league, and they'll tend to only accept coaches who have something of a proven track record of reliability on FUMBBL.)

Rules	BB2020, Sprint format, low competitive. All sprints, intended to just be fun games.
Current status	Second season runs until the end of October. Chillax is starting to gain traction. If you find yourself hanging yourself looking for games in gamefinder and don't mind a casual game, it might be worth having a Chillax team or six in the mix.

Rules	BB2020, but all the players are ST 5+, high TV, two week rounds (17 games per season!). Emphasis on BASH.	✶ 15-19
Current status	NFC Playoffs, AFC regular season has a few games left. Actively recruiting for many franchises.

“Spelledaren’s next big thing”

Rules	BB2020 with "some minor tweaks".
Current status	"Nelphine absolutely crushed everyone season 1. He won it all going 7/0/0 with 12-0 TD" Season 2, open round robin. There are still THREE OPEN SLOTS, for anyone still interested. If you're interested in trying something a little different with coaches from all around the world, talk to spelledaren.

Current status	All Stars Autumn Bowl currently running, with two games left. All Star sprint continues and runs thru the end of October.

Rules	BB2020, possibly the original league on Fumbbl to implement seasons!
Current status	Season XCVII (97) finishing up a few games, while the Premiership is already on the board for Season XCVIII (98).

Rules	BB2020. Equivalent pools with tiered postseason playoffs to decide champion. No redrafting or TV caps. Expensive mistakes and Spiraling expenses both active. Older players may pickup a niggle between seasons (aging)
Current status	Season 35 round 4 of 7, and appears to be running smoothly.

Open Play Environments

Competitive
Rules	BB2020 - using the latest rules available. Mega-star ban is in effect.
Activity	Very high activity. This is the primary activity on FUMBBL
To play	Make a team from your Coaches page for the Competitive division and put them in Gamefinder, or activate teams in the Black Box (also now within gamefinder) or seek games on the FUMBBL Discord (the last is more popular with people seeking those last few games to fill a grid.)
Activities	Royal Rookie Rumble for new teams. Brawls for any Competitive team. Brackets break at 1400 and 1800. Minors are quiet for the moment. Keep an eye out for the next tournament! Major Tournaments spread out across the year, each with their own requirements and some with qualifier tournaments. The first Steel Gauntlet was won my Elyod's [BBT8-4] Poglar! FUMBBL CUP was announced right on time, deadline to signup will be 25 October. Don't miss out.

Activities	Old World Rookie Rumble for new teams. Rumbles have been somewhat active of late Old World Brawl for any team... and again, while activity is slow, tournaments will still happen. Bracket breaks at 1000, 1300, 1600, and 2000. [SL]2020 Slam are Slam type instant tournaments for groups of four teams. (just needs interested coaches) [SL]2020 Open Sprint allows teams to compete on points earned in open play, leagues, and touranments. Current season runs from 16 September to 31 October. Other tournaments to start when Seasons enabled on FUMBBL.

Active Metagroups
Metagroups play in other open environments, against other teams in the environment which aren't necessarily part of the metagroup, for thier own goals


Season	Season 9: Sep-Dec 2023
Environment	Competitive (Blackbox Scheduler only)
Synopsis	FUMBBL's only officially supported metagroup. Build one or more squads of four teams, and amass points by winning and tying after randomly matching other teams. One team from each roster will have the opportunity to participate in the Steel Gauntlet, it's own special official [C]ompetitive Division tournament. (See Christer's blog linked above for more information.)


Season	XLIII: October 1-31st
Environment	Any/All
Synopsis	Stunty teams across the FUMBBL-verse attempting to beat, kill and maim everyone else... but mostly kill. Accumulate points for building up the biggest stack of corpses, with dwarves counting double. And of course, being stunties... the bodies accumulated from fouls certainly add to the official tally.


Season	LXXXII: September 1 - October 31st.
Environment	Competitive, Blackbox, and League (BB2020/SL2020).
Synopsis	A reboot of the original E.L.F. group, Elf teams accumulate points for playing (and more for winning) against a variety of different rosters. Additional awards for filling your dance card, and a special award for taking more casualties than anyone else. (Discord Channel.) So far, in the current season, only a single team has completed their cycle.

	Synopsis	Chaos Renegades teams as Borg collective. Start vanilla and play against other teams... and as you kill your opponent's players, you add their unique biological signature to the Borg. It was challenging under the BB2016 rules, and I suspect it's even harder now.
