FUMBBL :: Online Blood Bowl League

Compiled from across FUMBBL, this is all the news that's come to my little furry ears. If you know more that is going on, please let razmus know so he can add it to the next edition, which should be the first Sunday in December, because I'll be at the Back Broke Mountain Bowl 3 on Saturday. Trying to pull in as much of what's going on around FUMBBL so folks can find even more ways not to get all their real-life work done.

The census says that there are 1056 distinct, active coaches on FUMBBL who play in leagues. Two numbers are given for the range of the league size, because there isn't a single good indicator. When the numbers are very different - the league is likely in flux, have some deadwood teams/coaches in their locker rooms, or be at the start or end of a cycle/season (when there's usually a lot of inactive coaches watching the playoffs). Numbers very close together should be pretty close to the 'actual' active coach population (whatever that means) for the group.

Current status	Mid-Holiday Season Cuddlefest just began and runs until mid-December -- see datom's blog post on the subject for more information. 145 Box Challenge is a way of encouraging 145 players into the wider site, for the more experienced 145 players since you will play concurrent with the Blackbox Trophy. The 145 Anniversary Cup is up to round four with fourteen coaches remaining. A new cup for everyone will follow. A new mentoring program continues. Mentoring is more specific/personal/tailored advice but there is a lot of demand and not enough mentors at the moment, if you want to be mentored come and register your interest at the 145 discord (link below).
Next steps	If you're new to FUMBBL or Blood Bowl, jump in at your leisure. Efforts are being made to make it easier for folks to join with minimal wait and to make it easier to find appropriate opponents.

Current status	Season three continues, and is into round 5 of 7.
Next steps	Promotion, relegation and recruiting. The league has gotten the attention of quite a few really good Blood Bowl coaches who hadn't previously played on FUMBBL, so the competition is fierce. many are watching the potential of progression up and down the divisions with some interest. If you're interested come back early in 2024, and I'll see you in the bottom swiss!

Timezone/Region	Europe but with coaches from everywhere. Large, fluff heavy league. (Effectively Global)	✹ 66-67
Rules	BB2020 with modified Secret League, and customized BB2016 skill progression. Only one team per roster.
Current status	Year 11, Summer special tournaments are complete. Rookie teams have been seen prepping, so I expect the Autumn touranments with teams grouped by prestigue to start SOON.
Next steps	Year 11, Winter 'friendlies' follow... folks have the opportunity to play a few games during the quiet period before Spring Regionals slaughter all the young'ens.

Current status	Third season kicked off, and will run until mid-December. I'm seeing a fair number of coaches looking for matches for Chillax. Will any be able to take the sprint away from Blasphemy?

Open Play Environments

Competitive
Rules	BB2020 - using the latest rules available. Mega-star ban is in effect.
Activity	Very high activity. This is the primary activity on FUMBBL
To play	Make a team from your Coaches page for the Competitive division and put them in Gamefinder, or activate teams in the Black Box (also now within gamefinder) or seek games on the FUMBBL Discord (the last is more popular with people seeking those last few games to fill a grid.) Be aware that the box random scheduler now separates virtual season one teams from everyone else.
Activities	Royal Rookie Rumble for new teams. (Recruiting 24/7!) Brawls for any Competitive team. Brackets break at 1400 and 1800. Minors will have a tournament capped at TV 1330 started last Wednesday, 15 November. Major Tournaments spread out across the year, each with their own requirements and some with qualifier tournaments. FUMBBL CUP has begun and is currently in round 4 of 7.

Activity	Some.
To play	Make a team from the group above (or from your coaches play in the League/Secret League 2020 division) and put them in Gamefinder or seek games on the Secret League Discord
Activities	Old World Rookie Rumble for new teams. Rumbles have been somewhat active of late Old World Brawl for any team... and again, while activity is slow, tournaments will still happen. Bracket breaks at 1000, 1300, 1600, and 2000. [SL]2020 Slam are Slam type instant tournaments for groups of four teams. (just needs interested coaches) [SL]2020 Open Sprint allows teams to compete on points earned in open play, leagues, and touranments. Current season runs from 1 November to 16 December. Other tournaments to start when Seasons enabled on FUMBBL.


Rules	BB2016, with imported League, Ranked, or Box teams, including SL16 teams.
Activity	Low
To play	Clone teams into the league to bring new life to them to play. Open [L]eague Cup - No limit, Official 2016 + [SL16] teams for a possibly last ride of glory. (Watch Koadah's Blog for more information on the O[L]C cup.)

Active Metagroups
Metagroups play in other open environments, against other teams in the environment which aren't necessarily part of the metagroup, for thier own goals


Season	Season 9: Sep-Dec 2023
Environment	Competitive (Blackbox Scheduler only)
Synopsis	FUMBBL's only officially supported metagroup. Build one or more squads of four teams, and amass points by winning and tying after randomly matching other teams. One team from each roster will have the opportunity to participate in the Steel Gauntlet, it's own special official [C]ompetitive Division tournament. (See Christer's blog linked above for more information.)


Season	XLIV: November 1-30th
Environment	Any/All
Synopsis	Stunty teams across the FUMBBL-verse attempting to beat, kill and maim everyone else... but mostly kill. Accumulate points for building up the biggest stack of corpses, with dwarves counting double. And of course, being stunties... the bodies accumulated from fouls certainly add to the official tally. Someone is gonna have to step up to take the League division lead away from me.


Season	LXXXIII: November 1 - December 31st.
Environment	Competitive, Blackbox, and League (BB2020/SL2020).
Synopsis	A reboot of the original E.L.F. group, Elf teams accumulate points for playing (and more for winning) against a variety of different rosters. Additional awards for filling your dance card, and a special award for taking more casualties than anyone else. (Discord Channel.) No one has yet completed a cycle this season, but we're still in the first few weeks.

	Synopsis	Chaos Renegades teams as Borg collective. Start vanilla and play against other teams... and as you kill your opponent's players, you add their unique biological signature to the Borg. It was challenging under the BB2016 rules, and I suspect it's even harder now.

Good job as usual ! :)

However the status of "le laboratoire" is correct in the detailed section, but not on the upper part of the post : season 6 has started with 12 teams, not in between seasons ;)
