FUMBBL :: Online Blood Bowl League

Compiled from across FUMBBL, this is all the news that's come to my little furry ears. If you know more that is going on, please let razmus know so he can add it to the next edition, which should be early March. Trying to pull in as much of what's going on around FUMBBL so folks can find even more ways not to get all their real-life work done.

The census says that there are 899 distinct, active coaches on FUMBBL who play in leagues. Two numbers are given for the range of the league size, because 'active coaches in a league' is a poorly defined descriptor. When the numbers are very different - the league is likely in flux, have some deadwood teams/coaches in their locker rooms, or be at the start or end of a cycle/season (when there's usually a lot of inactive coaches watching the playoffs). Numbers very close together should be pretty close to the 'actual' active coach population (whatever that means) for the group.

Current status	Et tu Grak? is the current season for 145 which just started and runs until the Ides of March -- and the season honors those star players who let us down at critical moments of the game. 145 Box Challenge is a way of encouraging 145 players into the wider site, for the more experienced 145 players since you will play concurrent with the Blackbox Trophy.
Next steps	If you're new to FUMBBL or Blood Bowl, jump in at your leisure. Efforts are being made to make it easier for folks to join with minimal wait and to make it easier to find appropriate opponents.

Current status	Season Four, Round 2 of 7.
Next steps	Rinse and repeat. If you're willing to play an abbreviated season, it's still worth being put on the wait list for this season as people drop out.

Timezone/Region	Europe but with coaches from everywhere. Large, fluff heavy league. (Effectively Global)	✷ 62-66
Rules	BB2020 with modified Secret League, and customized BB2016 skill progression. Only one team per roster. (Custom stars, with subpar apothecaries.)
Current status	Year 11, Autumn tournaments in round 7 of 7.
Next steps	Year 11, Winter 'friendlies' follow... folks have the opportunity to play a few games during the quiet period before Spring Regionals slaughter all the young'ens.
To contact	New teams either enter a Youngbloods tournament or the general mix depending on timing, and with a league this large they're almost always recruiting. If you're an established FUMBBL coach who has been considering joining CIBBL, now is a bad time to join! You'll want to wait until after the Spring season to avoid being slaughtered by the monster teams which inhabit most regions of the CIBBL world. (But be aware, a lot goes into the administration of this league, and they'll tend to only accept coaches who have something of a proven track record of reliability on FUMBBL.)

“Spelledaren’s next big thing”

Current status	Season 3, with several fillers in place for folks interested in signing up, and several teams haven't played at all this season. (New teams will get cash and extra skills to get them up to speed.)

Current status	Season 44, Round 7 of 10 for the Non-AQ schedule set, and Round 'who the heck knows' in the BCS, where intra-conference play has started for some, while some conferences are just getting their last inter-conference games. I'm sure like a good batch of head cheese... it's all a mess while we're making it, but it'll be super tasty when it's all done.
Next steps	Non-AQ will continue to play with themselves, and BCS will go where they're told to go until the end-of-season makeups are announced.

Open Play Environments
Open play environments are places where teams can be built to play against other teams in the same environment, usually without scheduling the game, although many open environment also offer their own activities for teams to compete against one another if the coaches wish to participate.

Competitive
Rules	BB2020 - using the latest rules available. No Mega-stars.
Activity	Very high activity. This is the primary activity on FUMBBL
To play	Make a team from your Coaches page for the Competitive division and put them in Gamefinder, or activate teams in the Black Box (also now within gamefinder) or seek games on the FUMBBL Discord (the last is more popular with people seeking those last few games to fill a grid.) Be aware that the box random scheduler now separates virtual season one teams from everyone else.
Activities	Royal Rookie Rumble for new teams. (Recruiting 24/7!) Brawls for any Competitive team. Brackets break at 1400 and 1800. Stopped ejecting teams in queue for a mere month, but the window for a Highbie Brawl has now passed. Minors will have a BIG one on 21 February for teams capped at 1890tv. In addition, the XFL divisions for chorfs, necro, ogre, and elf union drew on 7 February! The next XFL groups will be Chaos Renegades, Dark Elves, Undead, and Norse and draw on 3 April (applications accepted starting 20 March.) Major Tournaments spread out across the year, each with their own requirements and some with qualifier tournaments. The Warpstone Open for teams which make it thru the qualifiers or were chosen by the lottery. The Ulthuan Invitation is coming in March!

Activity	Some.
To play	Make a team from the group above (or from your coaches page in the "League","Secret League 2020" division). Put them in Gamefinder or seek games on the Secret League Discord
Activities	Old World Rookie Rumble for new teams. Just need two more for the next Rumble. Old World Brawl for any team. Bracket breaks at 1000, 1300, 1600, and 2000. [SL]2020 Slam are Slam type instant tournaments for groups of four teams. (just needs interested coaches) [SL]2020 Open Sprint allows teams to compete on points earned in open play, leagues, and touranments. Should be a new season running from 16 December to 31 January 2024. Other tournaments to start when Seasons enabled on FUMBBL.


Rules	BB2020, low competitive. (no Mega-Stars)
Activity	Some, fairly consistent.
To play	Create a team from the link on the Chillax group page, and make them available in gamefinder.
Activities	Ongoing sprint seasons, just so there are numbers to watch. Really the environment is just an excuse to play games, so get to it.

Open League
Rules	BB2020 (no Mega-Stars)
Activity	Low.
To play	Create a team from the link on the Open League group page, or from the Create Team link at the bottom of your coaches page and select 'League', 'Open League'. Make them available in gamefinder, or find an opponent in Discord or other places. It's okay to play casual games against friends here.


Rules	BB2020, Amorical Cup (non-progression) rules. (no Mega-Stars)
Activity	--We'll see-- but assume this will mostly be active in the Americas timezones.
To play	Amorical Cup proving grounds. Open play - create teams and apply to the group, play at your leisure.

Ranked
Rules	BB2016
Activity	Low.. maybe a few fistfuls of games a month.
To play	Mostly old team.. "smoke'em if you got'em" sort of environment. It's still possible to create a new Ranked team from the create team dialog, but remember... this is the BB2016 rules, which is gonna feel alien to most of us anymore. If you still have an old Ranked team, you absolutely can still put'em in gamefinder and see if anyone else wants to play. Play'em while you have 'em. This environment is close to being declared done.


Rules	BB2016 with custom rosters.
Activity	Very low, and we may need to get out a fork soon.
To play	Make a team from the group above and put them in Gamefinder or seek games on the Secret League Discord Once again, play'em while you have 'em. This environment is on life support!


Rules	BB2016, with imported League, Ranked, or Box teams, including SL16 teams.
Activity	Low
To play	Clone teams into the league to bring new life to them to play. Open [L]eague Cup - No limit, Official 2016 + [SL16] teams for a possibly last ride of glory. (Watch Koadah's Blog for more information on the O[L]C activities.)

Independant Tournaments
Tournaments available, which aren't otherwise part of one of the open environments.


Time/Region	Global, 10-11 day rounds (Wed/Sun deadlines) to facilitate scheduling.
Rules	BB2020, 4M teams, (almost all) star players.
Next tournament	All Stars Winter Bowl 6 March 2024. Other tournaments when sufficient coaches sign up.

Active Metagroups
Metagroups play in other open and league environments, against other teams in the environment which aren't necessarily part of the metagroup, for thier own goals.


Season	Season 10: Jan-Apr 2024
Environment	Competitive (Blackbox Scheduler only)
Synopsis	FUMBBL's only officially supported metagroup. Build one or more squads of four teams, and amass points by winning and tying after randomly matching other teams. One team from each roster will have the opportunity to participate in the Steel Gauntlet, it's own special official [C]ompetitive Division tournament. (See Christer's blog linked above for more information.) The Steel Gauntlet competition is underway now, and is up to the finals between Bazakastine's Vampires and Tschirgant's Khorne.

Player of the Year 2024 (POTY 2024)
Season	The year of 2024
Environment	Competitive tournaments - FUMBBL Minor, Majors, and BBT
Synopsis	Earn points in the official Comptitive division competitions, and folks are offering up prizes. 145 Club has their own related prize as well! Current Update


Season	XLVII: February 1-29th
Environment	Any/All
Synopsis	Stunty teams across the FUMBBL-verse attempting to beat, kill and maim everyone else... but mostly kill. Accumulate points for building up the biggest stack of corpses, with dwarves counting double. And of course, being stunties... the bodies accumulated from fouls certainly add to the official tally. There is a relatively quiet Discord for the Throne of Blood as well.


Season	LXXXIV: January 1 - February 29th.
Environment	Competitive, Blackbox, and League (BB2020/SL2020).
Synopsis	A reboot of the original E.L.F. group, Elf teams accumulate points for playing (and more for winning) against a variety of different rosters. Additional awards for filling your dance card, and a special award for taking more casualties than anyone else. (Discord Channel.)

Is Borg Invasion actually active?
It seems the last game played by teams in that metagroup is over half a year ago and only 4 teams have played at all in 2023.
