My Beautiful City
For those of you who have been, who want to visit and have never even heard of it, here is the City of Bath, one of many UNESCO World Heritage sites found in the UK (Bath is special though as the entire city is designated as a heritage site).

Jane Austin any one?
Posted by mrbibitte3 on 2013-10-04 20:55:43
Has many, many similarities with Quebec City, Canada... though over here, life is slower than in your video !! :-) :-)

*cough* Yorkshire! Yorkshire! *cough* haha, ;)

My nan lives in Bath, always good for a visit :)
Posted by Royston on 2013-10-04 21:34:36
Is it really like Quebec? Hot springs, Roman ruins, Georgian architecture, a literary heritage that includes Charles Dickens and Jane Austen, bombed heavily by the Nazis as part of the Baedecker Blitz, host to Haile Selassie of Ethiopia during his exile...

Well done mate, makes me proud to live in such an awesome city
Posted by licker on 2013-10-04 22:12:44
What is a butt comb for?
Posted by Royston on 2013-10-04 22:19:25
Licker, we Bathonians have hairy arses. It is also a brand of beer.
Posted by Royston on 2013-10-04 22:20:07
MrOdd, where do you live? I'm in East Twerton.
Posted by MrOdd on 2013-10-04 22:39:13
I live in Oldfield park, Bridge road
Posted by Royston on 2013-10-04 22:45:48
Only about 10 minutes from mine then.
Posted by MrOdd on 2013-10-04 22:47:29
Yeah not far at all mate, small world
Posted by B_SIDE on 2013-10-04 23:18:24
Stunning.
Posted by pythrr on 2013-10-04 23:44:04
it's nothing like Quebec, for the love of all that is holy.
Posted by PigStar-69 on 2013-10-04 23:45:32
boring :p

Aaaaah, the bright sparks of a brand new TT league :)

Bath is incredibly beautiful, and when my american relatives visit the Uk is top of my suggested visit locations, followed by York and Chester.

But my God the people there can be stuck up. Its the onyl place i toured to as an actor and got attitude, of the 'you're a bit common for us', of the taxi driver at the station.

You get a far friendlier welcome up north, or in the true south west.

Beautiful, lovely city.

Don't go there on a stag do though. It's expensive and may be the only city in the uk with NO strip clubs. We nearly got a taxi to Bristol....
Posted by PurpleChest on 2013-10-05 00:31:34
Also Bath is not the Uk's only world heritage city.

Others are
Liverpool
Edinburgh
Saltaire (admittedly a town)

Also London isnt, but contains 4. Kew, Westminster, Tower Of London and Greenwich.

So I'll stick with London thanks.

Ah Bath... beautiful city of many Uni memories, and now just up the road from ceetee villas...
Posted by keggiemckill on 2013-10-05 03:10:12
I am most likely missing something, what's a World heritage city and who declares them to be so?
Posted by pythrr on 2013-10-05 05:30:46
UNESCO

Posted by pythrr on 2013-10-05 05:32:51
PC: Durham too, and that IS a city (i.e.: has a cathedral)

Posted by Royston on 2013-10-05 08:31:49
PurpleChest, let me rephrase. The entirety of the City of Bath, even my bedroom where I am now, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Liverpool has 6 areas of the centre and docklands designated as a site.
Edinburgh is the Old and New Towns (I don't know the city but I guess it is more than just that)
Saltaire is a world heritage site but is only a village not a city.
And yes London has lots of places.

I was ambiguous with my statement and apologise. There are also lots more world heritage sites dotted around our beautiful isles.

Booooooooo Bath. It may be pretty, but that team is unacceptable. ;)

Tigers FTW! \o/

Purplegoo, I hope you enjoyed that nice lingering shot of the Rec.
Posted by Purplegoo on 2013-10-05 12:36:17
Didn't watch it. Would have to bleach my eyes. ;)
Posted by Russo on 2013-10-05 15:24:32
Saltire FTW!
It's in Bradford, Yorkshire so HAS to be No1 :-)
Posted by Hero164 on 2013-10-05 15:29:56
Bath, nice city.... shame about the rugby team.
Posted by pythrr on 2013-10-05 18:44:15

No shots of beautiful old Twerton Park though. :(
Posted by Qaz on 2013-10-05 20:37:42
I wend to Bath once. It was pretty and all but I got bitten by a moskito. The brochure did not mention moskitos! :/
Posted by pythrr on 2013-10-05 20:44:07
are they like mohitos?
Posted by Royston on 2013-10-05 22:42:02
Qaz, we don't have mosquitos in Bath. You must have been bitten by a visiting Bristolian.
Posted by pythrr on 2013-10-06 04:37:58
yeah but not but yeah but not but yeah.

Its a nice place to take a girl for a weekend.

But Ive got to say, it all seems a bit too pretty to be real - where do all the skivers and teenage mums live? It might warp your sense of reality spending too much time there.
Posted by Royston on 2013-10-07 14:29:12
Uzkulak, we like to keep them in the outskirts - Twerton (where I live), Whiteway, Fox Hill and Snow Hill. Plus parts of Southdown, Odd Down, Combe Down and Weston.

But mainly we try to leave that sort of thing to Bristol, they do it so much better than us.
