Curse my luck/stupidity
I'm not sure which one's worse. I lost my first match last night 1-0. I really enjoyed the game, it was very scrappy and if it wasn't for a couple of bad rolls on my behalf I would have scored in the first half when one of my guys was one square outside the endzone.
Then my 2nd match of the night was the same sort of thing. I went 3-0 down but should have scored the first touchdown. I was one square out again and instead of waiting until the turn after I decided to go for it and fell over. It was only after that I realised that my opponent's Elfs have no chance of getting to my Orc so I was odds on to score. As for the 3 TDs I conceded, they were mostly about bad rolls and my opponent using the most of his Elfs speed and agility. I did get a TD back on turn 7 of the 2nd half though so was quite pleased about that especially considering I had to move a prone player to the ball and then chuck a long bomb down to my blitzer who was in running space for the TD.
All in all though 2 very enjoyable games. I think my opponents must agree too, never have they seen someone with such bad luck...

I see you're really green here, so I thought I'd help you out with few pointers I noticed when watching your last match against pro elves.
1) Don't needlessly throw the ball without a thrower and a catcher. Ag3 to Ag3 is bound to fail, more often than you would like it to. When you are in a horry and need a fast score, then it's the time for pass... or if you're an elf, then you can just show off. =)
2) Don't EVER put your players next to sideline, even when receiving as the opponent might get a blitz (if you don't have stand firm). That's the easiest way for an opponent to remove your player from the field. That mistake happened several times over few games.
3) NEVER use your apothecary on first few turns for a BH recovery. That player will anyway be there for the next match, a dead one will not.
I still wouldn't talk about luck or stupidity in your case, Imo it's mostly just inexperience. Carry on playing and learn from your mistakes, hf.

Thanks for the pointers Marauder. If I've found out anything over the past week of playing this game, it is that people are really helpful to newbies. I've played games before where people just simply hate the new intruders into their private sanctuary and try to stick it to them.
As for the specific advice. Thanks for 1 and 3, but I did know about number 2. Even though I do get a few crowd pushes against me every match, they are normally where I've been kncoked towards the sidelines and haven't moved the player away. More inexperience I guess. :-)
