I saw a new player, so I asked him if he needed an intro game. Turns out he knew how to play. And I took my brand new human test team, The Iconics! (soon with player icons and team logo)
I lost 2-0. Haha. It was plenty fun and he was good, we both made mistakes, and well he just beat me. But since he was a bit slow (not too used to playing on JBB yet) I took the time to crunch down a few numbers while he played.

What did I learn today?
- Humans make me think of a a skaven team without the muzzles and whiskers. Mostly trading -1M for +1armor, the catcher trading -1A for the Catch skill, and the ogre losing the ratty aspect.
- I'm a good example of this too, but # of games is NOT equal to skill.
- Doing something else while the opponent plays looks like it makes me play dumber. Not tons, but still. I mostly have less time at spotting all the possibilitys and avoiding stupid mistakes.
Now for the number crunching.
(Those numbers were taken before this last game)
In my last 10 games, I'm 8-2-0. I sure can learn from that! Let's see a few numbers.
During this period I did 15 fouls. 1.5 per game. I think this is because I'm a bit shy on fouling due to not being wanted ejected, but when I want someone gone I want him gone! And I need to keep reading on how to maximize on making fouls work.
I scored 21 TD. 2.1 per game. I counted only 4 that didn't come from GRs. This, coupled with the fact I don't remember them getting any SI or RIP, means I'm learning pretty well how to surprise my opponent with either a snatch in his zone, or a sprint on his flank, with appropriate protection.
I got scored 9 TDs. That's 0.9 TD per game! This means I'm able to see most plans coming and able to somehow stop them. My 2.1 TD per game also means I'm sometimes able to not only stop them, but steal the ball and score.
I have 6 CPs. That's not even one per game! This means I'm less reliant on passes, mostly because I found the thrower is just there to pick up and throw and then becomes a liner, and GR's A4 with a RR in case can do that just as well. In short, they can be pretty useful in most teams, but GRs cover for their absence.
Let's take a look at my defeats... The crushing 3-0 one came at the hands of lizards, it's the only time I ever faced them. My main problem was the handful of S4 players. In fact, we can see I was unable to to much with the ball, when I even had the ball!) and he used the skinks' mobility (41 to 14 rush). Also, his impressive 52 to my 34 blocks means not only his S4 outclassed me, but I gave him plenty of opportunitys to use it.
The other one was 2-1 against amazons, the only team I played against zons. And the game was very close, with him barely getting his TDs in the last turn of each half. My main problem was I didn't know how to break a cage with everyone having S3 and dodge, half of them having Block on top.
So my weak points?
- N00by mistakes
- forgetting something obvious
- lack of expereince against some teams and their tactics
- still missing out on a few rules, like fouls
- team development, but this doesn't show too much yet
- Deployment (getting much better in my last few games)
- Still need some more experience with block assists and positioning, but I'm doing fine.
- Sometimes I miss a good opportunity
- Need more experience with stalling, although definately not my favorite tactic (will avoid if I don't have to do it)
- Playing mostly "new or low CR" coaches means usually less advanced tactics
My strong points?
- Ability to score with GRs.
- Ability to prevent the enemy from scoring, sometimes even
- Getting better at deployment
- Getting better at blocks and assists (and positioning in general
- Getting better at dodges
- Experience against certain races from past games
- RR gestion
- Cool battle reports (come on, that HAS to count!)
- Watching my replays to see my good/bad plays
- Writing stuff here, it helps
- Learning from the comments
- Playing mostly "new or low CR" coaches helps me with the basics and spot obvious things
- Learned when using Apothicary (not how to spell it though)
In my last blog, a comment mentioned doing a guide for skaven newbies. Would me doing that really be useful? (also : where to do it?)
