So once the OCCS stomp was over, I looked forward to the 145 Club's events. But since we're lacking players, not all their events have started. So because people prodded me about it and I needed something new, I ended up trying BB7s. A club with only 7 players, no big guys, no rerolls, positions cut in half (0-2 becomes 0-1). Let's see what happened!
My first game was with lizards (although I did make a skaven team too of course!) against Sinnyil. I did pretty well, very well in fact, winning 3-0 on my first try. What I also found cool is BB7 games are very short, this one lasted 34 minuts.

At this point the replay button broke for a day. Still, I had a pretty close and enjoyable against Arghh's humans. 1-1 draw.

I then got a series of matches with my BB7 skavens. While I used to have a lot of success with skavens, things started going downhill results-wise for me. My luck just wasn't what it used to be, and AV7 really took its toll. First, a 2-0 defeat against some norse because I found myself severely outnumbered.

Then a 2-1 loss against undead where I could have stole a tie if I had played better. Coach in learning!

And finally, with the replay button now working, a 3-1 loss against a similar skaven team, however a bit more skilled than mine.

0/3/0 with my BB7 skavens, ouch! Well with one of the two KO Cups starting, I turned back to fielding 11 players for my round 1 match against dark elves. A team with a lot of skills/stats, I was relying on my 1-turner for that tournament. He didn't deliver. I got slightly out-coached, so he scored in his half and barely managed to prevent me from scoring in my half. Still, I think this game was pretty good learning-wise.

So what did I learn this week?
- BB7 makes for fun, quick games with a slightly different style of play. Look it up, leagues starting in a day or two!
- Frenzy and crowdpushing. I'm getting somewhat decent at not getting crowd pushed (too much). But mix frenzy in and I fail. I think I was crowd-pushed 3 times because of that. I really need to get better here.
- Tactical fouling. I use it as a valid but risky strategy. So far most people I encountered ddn't feel any bad about being fouled when it had some use game-wise. So I have a lot of games with 0 fouls because I get no good foul opportunity (reward > risk of ejection) while not going out of my way. And there's a bunch of games I've fouled 2 or 3 times, just because it wouldn't bother my team much and it seemed like it would help me win. I see foul as a more extreme and random blitz.
- Rerolls. Need at least 3 if possible. Having no RR by turn 3 or 4 is a major pain. Nuff said. (keep in mind my highest team is 145TR)
- Making mistakes. Need to double-check my moves before I click on them. In particular standing up prone guys, because that action can't be cancelled by clicking the player.
- Offense. Improving everyday, but I now often get my ball carrier taken down and that's just not good. I mostly have problems keeping the ball in the "pocket" for a long time, no matter the team. This is partly because due to my lack of experience, I'm not very good at playing in tight-packed mobs (positioning and planning).
So my win ratio as well as my luck are going downhill these days, my record now being 29/23/11. Less than 7 more wins than losses! Partly due to not really playing in
anymore and joining tougher environments (OCCS mainly). Well then I guess I'll have no choice but to get better or a become a whiner. In hindsight, the latter seems like less work ;)
See you next blog! Unless, of course, you comment. And the Add Comment button didn't break yesterday, try it :)
