So ever since my loss in the awesome final of the KO Cup (see the blog post before this one) I concentrated on OCCS' Reeborc Stomp, with my rotters.
First I had a game where my opponent played very well, so despite my luck all he needed was 1 lucky roll to escape me when I had him cornered and he kept his victory

By now I was starting to get better at playing rotters, but kept getting god opponents in my way. So my game against Ryanfitz was very close, and once again when I had an opportunity to te the game I failed a very important roll.

Taking a break and taking a skaven breather, I found even newbies to cause me headaches. This guy was much better than his I-only-played-2-games-before record would let you think. But he suffered the same fate I did recently : failing a roll to get the tie.

And after a rough day, I finally got to fight LineBreaker with similar TR/TS thanks to all his MNG players. Just as challenging as all my previous games this week, only this time we had a lot of fun beginning to end with a lot of specs cheering at the bloodbath. We left with a tie, a couple injuries and a good laugh.

Which probably marks the end of my Stomp adventure. My rotters gathered a 1/1/4 record, tying in 7th place (first 6 go through). But I learned a lot during that time and definately brushed up on skills, playing very good opponents for the most part.
What did I learn?
- defense getting better, not quite there on offense. 0,5 TD per game is nowhere near enough. Although I realise rotters aren't exactly good at scoring fast.
- starting to see armour really working. Kicking out my fair share of AV7 players, getting a couple BH ad SI against me at AV8, and almost unable to do anything to AV9 players.
- Definately getting better at playing around with the skills. I don't forget my kickers anymore, know where to place which skills, pay attention to guards and tackles in particular before I plan something... getting there!
- Starting to see the point of buying extra rerolls as a very good way to reduce TR and yet improve. Although with my most used team having 9 games, I've yet to apply this much.
- Getting a kill in with a Beast is tough! Bruno Blanchet made a BH and 2 niggles in 6 games, plus today he SId himself on a failed block (but luckily regened).
- Need some experience against some teams in particular, and trying some other teams than skavens from time to time (with 145's events, I'm giving halflings a god try). Playing a team myself also means having a better view of their possibilities.
- In close games, there's good chances a dice roll will end up deciding who wins. It's a luck game, t happens, deal with it. Still, the game being very close is a great start.
- Sure handicaps help, but it still usually means starting with odds slightly against you.
So I had a great time in OCCS' Stomp, even though starting late made my first games particularly hard. Thanks to all my opponents!
Now onto moar practice, 145 Club events (still waiting for those mini-leagues to start due to lack of players, sign up!!!) and maybe less hiding from real life. But I don't have much illusions on the latter, it's more wishful thinking.
