17th game : the cheese that goes squish-squish
So I played my 2nd league game in the TR125 section. You know, last time in that league against wood elves and my opponent commented "We shall never mention this game again". After he suffered 3 RIPs and a SI.

This time was against dark elf, my 2nd elf opponent ever. So I expected a couple injuries, to say the least. Much less elf blood was lost though, but I still won 2-0 and had plenty of fun :)

What did I learn today?
- There's bad luck, and also strokes of bad luck. At one point we rolled skulls like crazy.
- No women allowed. Any attempt to break that rule will be punsihed by multiple fractures immediately.
- Big misconception I had regarding dodging and zones. Turns out you make a roll for leaving a zone, but the check is made regarding the target zone. So dodging away from a mob is much easier than dodging into it.
- Even if they don't have Dodge, A4 players are pretty dodgy.
- GFI will fail eventually.
- Remember which enemy player has which skill/stats. I'm getting better with mine, but I kept forgetting his +S guy was there for example. Or which one had -S and didn't require an assist to beat up.
- Kick. Yeah, sure, great stuff. When I remember it. Or when I remember to not put my kicker in a wide zone (I did remember about LOS though). No visibly good kicks for me today. So I think still it's probably pretty good, but I couldnt see its effects because of my newbie incompetence.
- 20k for the profile picture means plenty of photo reduction. I'll try getting a better one eventually.
- You can't use Apo for crowd-related injuries.
- I know to avoid being directly on the side-line, but being 2 squares away isn't really safe either, especially with 5 elfs in the way.
- Stalling for 1 turn when we're about in the 6th turn semms like it was a good decision. Stalling more would have been lame and greedy though.
- The thrower is the one with the big hand. Fortunately Dive-Paws succeeded his pass without having to re-roll.
- Dividing SPs between players sounds good long-term, but right now I have a couple guys with some but not enough for a skill.
- Aging sucks. Yay 6-5 for +A on my GR on his first skill. Boo for 1-1 on aging, resulting in Niggly. Oh and did I mention my other GR has Miss Next Game?
- Need to read about where the ball lands in various situations (such as pushing in the crowd). I think twice it appared in the hands of a LOS player after being pushed into the crowd.
- Apparently, you can enter leagues a couple days after they started. I think otherwise I'd have only 1 more game to go in each league if it wasnt for late entrants. But it's cool, more games!
- But needing to schedule games, not a fan. Is there a valid opponent in chat? No, then in Game Finder? No, then is there someone not online but in chat that I can PM and forget about 2 minuts later? I think I received 7 PMs in 2 days trying to schedule a game. I'd like to, but I got an extremely unreliable schedule. I can't blame those guys at all, I actually like the fact they contacted me early. But this situation just isn't the best for me. I'll think about it for future leagues/tournys.
- Long battle reports such as http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=2871509 can count as fluff points on UE. Cool I guess, I'll see if I can do more like that sometimes :)
- In the roster, the book icon means the player has a bio.

So I'm still a newbie (though not doing bad at all!) and currently involved in enough leagues and tournys to keep me
busy for a little while. Then what? I obviously need to give the book another good read, and to play against higher ranked opponents if I want to learn even more. I also need to get to experience team development, as well as playing more games against less-played races. I still haven't played a dwarf! And then there's my on-the-fly position towards getting games. So checking out the academy some more is good, but I'll need to look at the other divisions too once I'm done with those leagues.

An honourable mention for the witch elf, who in her first game ever, got tackled in 1st turn by a gutter runner and immediately broke a few bones. The world of Blood Bowl needs more brave fools like you.

Another nice read:)

But what do you mean with "Long Battle Reports can count as fluff points on UE"? This I don't know about:)

IT's the skaven site. We can get fluff points by writing storys. The link is in my profile.
