Mental Health charity stream today
Tuesday Oct 10th is World Mental Health day and also my Twitch stream's second birthday. I'll be doing a charity stream, with 100% of the revenue going to the "Brain and Behavior Research Foundation", which funds research to find cures for and otherwise improve the treatment of mental illness.
I'll be playing Blood Bowl between 7 AM and 3 PM UTC, against Sheepdog, Squiggy, FullMetalCOS. This will be combined with real talk about mental health issues with these guests, as well as my amazing mod CaffeinPrincess.
Between 9.15 and 11 AM, the voice chat line will also be open for viewers to ask questions and share their experiences. A close friend of mine who is a psychologist will be available to answer questions and offer advice during this time.
Being able to talk openly about mental health is really important, but it's something many people struggle with due to the stigma it bears. I hope that by doing this on stream ourselves, we can set a positive example, as well as collect some money for a good cause.

Great stream and an important cause. Working as a special education teacher this definitely hits home as a topic that we should be able to discuss and address without the huge stigma that comes from it.

We had 100 people watching for 7.5 hours, some great sharing from both caffeinprincess (my mod) and sheepdog (my youtube mentor). Raised $122, but more importantly, had lots of viewers share their feelings openly as well.
The best thing about it was what a viewer of mine (who is doing his PhD) wrote yesterday, which really brought home why we did this:
"It's my first day back at university today after having had a breakdown and nearing suicide. I've been in a psychiatric hospital for a couple of weeks and am now I'm back home I'm visited daily by hospital staff to check I'm safe.
Your words, shared posts and openness about this issue is both inspiring and comforting. Hearing you talk about burning out at work, sweaty palms over emails, it all resonates with me and helps me remember I'm not alone.
