FUMBBL :: Online Blood Bowl League

Any coach that is married knows that there is the constant tug and pull between your wife and FUMBBL. She cannot stand FUMBBL. She thinks you would spend every waking minute of your life playing Blood Bowl if you could. And she is right!!! but NEVER TELL HER THAT.

So Dallas was covered in 2-4 inches of solid ice Friday to Sunday. I did not go to work. In my utopian universe I thought, AWESOME!!! Time for some Blood Bowl marathon action.

But in my excitment I forgot something. My wife and twin boys were locked down with me. Everytime I even logged onto FUMBBL...Eruption of house chores would break out from my wife, kids demanding to go outside with me to play.

I would even announce to the family, Ok guys I get 1 hour to play on FUMBBL. My pleas fell on deaf ears or maybe I was derailed by a jealous wife.

Over 3 days I got in one match on FUMBBL and it was had under false pretenses. It was like I was sneaking away for a smoke and I did not want anybody to know I was smoking. I had to fake cleaning up the upstairs disaster zone and snuck my laptop up there so I could get in a match whille I was cleaning.

So getting ice bound with the family is NO BUENO when it comes to playing Blood Bowl on FUMBBL.

My wife threatens to throw the laptop out the door because aparently playing while my daughter watches cartoons sitting next to me is not watching her. She is 4 years old, she can tkae care of herself. Daddy needs to find a match.

I found this funny. My wife however didn't lol

I bottle feed our 3 month old whilst playing a game here. That is ok it seems, means she can relax while I struggle to reach the mouse to do each turn

Pain,

I know the feeling. While I am on here frequently I have rarely played in the past 18 months due to a set of twin boys and a wife who asks, "why do grown men play with dollies?"

Hope you stayed safe up there, have family in Frisco, TX and their instagram pics of the roads were gnarly.

Exactly the same problem here, I stand up at night to feed and changes diapers for our baby, same in the morning, go to work, return from work and proceed, pay for everything while she is complaining all the time and goes totally crazy whenever I even dare to access notebook or tablet, lol. She chatting/facebooking while watching TV, now that's something entirely different in her opinion. So you're not alone bro ;)

I've been married long enough to know what will fly and what won't.

I very very rarely will even try to play a game until after the kids are in bed.

Of course I also enjoy spending time with my family so...

What i've learned:
don't play when the kids are awake. They do exactly what you wrote
Ask wife first, she may be in the mood... ;)
Don't play every night
Play from work if no meetings

Arktoris's top ten ways to get the wife to not mind bloodbowl

10. Voluntarily do a few chores without her asking
9. Watch one of her favorite shows with her each night. giving her all your attention and love. this gives her something to look forward to.
8. go to bed early, wake up early, get game while she sleeps
7. Go out to do chores. while out, take laptop to wifi restaurant. Have game, eat burger.
6. Give her money to go shopping. Stay home, play.
5. Remind her that the alternative is you going out and playing bloodbowl at someone's house for 5 hours. Site one of her friends that is "widowed" every Friday night.
4. Date night. Treat her that night the way you did when you were first dating.
3. Name a team or players after her favorite movie/show. (see my vamps. Edward is now legend) Tell her how they are doing.
2. Read to her your funny stories or match reports. (mine loves the charioteers vs Buccaneers. also loved the old Batman reports) It includes her on the fun.

Arktoris it is very difficult to give orgasms to anyone while playing BB, except perhaps to my jubilant opponent when they draw my Ogres in B.

If I wasn't married I would play at least double the amount of matches. Chores crop up just after I say I will play BB. No kids but usually I have to wait for rare opportunities when my wife has a nap/sleeps early.

@Arktoris:

#9 and #1 definitely work.
I can't get myself for do #8 and can't afford #6.
#5 is not really an option, #3 didn't really work (but then again, I only played one or two matches with the team).
#2 doesn't work either since she's really not interested in BB at all and doesn't want to read stuff in English that she has no interest in.
The others I suppose don't have much an effect, but then again she's very tolerant towards my hobby and I feel bad when I try to play dirty tricks to get more gaming time...

Certainly a very wise list. Some coaches should probably bookmark it. :-)

My wife is fine with me playing. She has no interest in the game herself, since she prefers 1p games in general, and has no interest in football. She sometimes asks "was that one of yours?" when she hears the crunchy/splooshy noises. She has helped make a few of my team logos and debug bios (back when they used html).

I started playing on FUMBBL before we met, so she knew what she was getting into.

I have found a solution with wife "problem". I dont live with her, but we are still married. Few times a week i visit her and the kids, do some familly staff and went back to my flat to play bb! Unfortunetly, i am almost run out of exuses for that kind of life:(

Once my daughter's in bed my wife is glued to her own PC anyway most of the time and if she isn't, I just have to get her the most recent add-on of The Sims. :)

We used to play World of Warcraft together but Blood Bowl is too much thinking and too little action for her tastes. She doesn't mind me playing at all, but if I get upset about something that happens on Fumbbl I best make sure I don't take it "back home", or I'm in for trouble...

While this is all good and well, getting up early with my daughter is wearing on me (no morning person at all), so when I'm finally able to play at 9 or 9:30 pm I'm often so tired that I go straight to bed instead. :(

my divorce was final 3 weeks ago, my ex blamed fumbbl, she hated it, if she had asked me to leave fumbbl before she became a ranting bitch I would have, but it was my release when she changed and I needed something to do, its addicting yes , but our relationship was over long before she said get off

I guess I'm one of the lucky few, as long as my better half gets my undivided attention the majority of the time (and she does) she merely smirks with amusement at my fascination with fumbbl. She's said that of all the things I could be doing, playing a nerdy online game is bout as harmless as it gets as long as it doesn't come first.
