Honestly, I feel with you. The republicans put candidates forward they can't win with. Basically as it stands the democrats are just gonna win by default every time. Tells a bit about the mental capacity of the republican voters too tho. In order for your party to win you need somebody who has at least some appeal to everyone in the country ;).

And quite honestly, afaic it's wrong already that in your country family members of former presidents can apparently so easily make office as if their family name is a brand name but the truth is, if Kermit the Frog was running against Trump, he'd still win.

And just to be clear about that: I always said Trump would win the the republican elections in a landslide.
Why? Because people know him. That is huge. But it is also just within a group of people with very limited mental capacity which is called Republicans.
And now I'm telling you he has no chance when everybody is voting. He is a terrible candidate. Foreseeable terrible. And everyone who voted for him is an idiot.

Actually no, I'm not ok with Obama at all. I like to think it would be like that. The truth is America today has changed. It is very hostile country. It started under Bush and it continued under Obama. The country needs a real democrat. Somebody with the education and competence to understand what that really means. Somebody who doesn't sell out all those values under the pretence to protect them.
United States politics are more than just one countries politics. Their global military, economic and ideological dominance shapes the entire world. It sets the standard for how the world argues, what is acceptable and what isn't. When you set a standard on torture, it becomes the worlds standard. When you set a standard for what is acceptable to start a war, it becomes the worlds standard.
When you set a standard for what means are acceptable to manipulate a democratic system, it becomes the worlds standard.

Just because Trump is a bit of a tool & a tv celebrity does not mean he will be a terrible president.

As for Clinton, you give him too much credit. He wasn't a king.

The Republicans in Congress balanced the budget. Clinton didn't do much else other than take advantage of a 19 year old aid, and go talk shows.

Bush knew the reasons he gave for the Iraq war weren't true. Outside of the US everyone knew. Just somehow the media in the US seem to work differently. Somehow in difference to Vietnam it seems to be unacceptable today to question what the US military does. The real informations are all there but it seems to be possible to just make something up that is completely false like when Arktoris speaks of 'rape'. Which is of course always a dead beat argument. I could just aswell accuse Arktoris of rape. And he me and we all each other.

But here, just to show that I'm not setting a double standard. If Bush were to be prosecuted for the Iraq war he should of course have the right to argue he didn't know about it. And I was told there is some incriminating evidence that proofs that he not only knew but ordered to misconstrue informations to be able to start the war but in the spirit of not believing everything just because somebody sais so lets pretend he really didn't know.
You can, it is physically possible to capture people, war enemies, terrorists and to treat them like human beings. The Geneva convention wasn't just to make the life hard for US soldiers, it also serves the purpose of protecting your soldiers, the purpose of protecting everyone. But I can see how the view can be distorted when you are all powerful and think you can do whatever you want and nobody can resist you. Just mind as the world is getting a harsher place and terrorism gets more brutal it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Violence amplifies.

Clinton didn't balance the budget. Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott did. Not only did Clinton not balance the budget, he was so against it that he actually shut the government down for several months over it by vetoing the budget bills on his desk.

as far as accusing someone of rape is not the same thing as rape...I agree. Which is why Clinton's sex history became relevant, to find out who's telling the truth.

so, when Clinton went on national TV and told the American people to their face "I did not have sexual relations with that woman (Monica)." But DNA stains on her dress say otherwise...we now have proof Bill is lying about his impeccable husband behavior...as well as damning evidence that he DID sexually harass and attempt to use his executive power to rape Ms Jones...and more importantly...he's willing to bold face lie to the public to the point where his credibility and trustworthiness as a president is gone.

If he cared about America, he would have done what Nixon did and Gingrich did. Resign for the good of the nation. But since Clintons *only* care about Clintons, he chose to drag the nation down then let go of power.

And that's exactly what Hillary will do if we're dumb enough to elect her in November.

They are men. Not gods, or anything special. But they did their part.

Arctoris, I see that our impressions of what happened are very different. Although I have the same information accessible they were wired together in my head to form an entirely different story. Mind I was still at school when I learned about it and its probably a shortcoming of myself that I too readily accepted what I was taught at that time. Which was basically that the Republicans just kept digging for whatever dirt they could find. (That there was no inherent connection - which is suppose is the crux depending on interpretation.) And when you only dig deep enough you'll probably find something no person in public life would want to conceed. Like something that isn't illegal but would likely destroy your marriage. I appreciate you telling me your version, it makes the whole thing appear less crazy than it was. And I like less crazy.
Still, ultimately it was about lying to congress about something that didn't effect politics. Like it would for instance if he were to lie about the true capacities of an espionage program. Anyways, Clinton wasn't impeached, perhaps because some Republicans back then still understood that there is merit in protecting the democratic system. And you shouldn't so readily associate harassment with rape. Especially not in a legal context.

Of course you know I love the guy. Like I love no other US president. And if we just pretend to be two modern crazy second-wave feminists here, I'd conceed to you that Clintons time is long up. Still that is an incredibly unwarranted argument against his wife.
I mean come on, imagine your wife cheats on you, you have to bare with it all your life, still you let it go, protect what you have, endure, and then some idiot comes and says to you 'you are like a rapist because of your wife'. If anyone is really idiotic enough to practice 'lesser of two evils' when there are other choices then it's completely on you for being an absolute idiot.

If you think I'm throwing my vote away then that's also pretty dumb, but that's because you've let the RNC and DNC lead you into believing that their actually are only two choices.

I'll agree that no 3rd party candidate is going to win this election, I'm still voting for one, because I honestly believe that the difference between Trump and Clinton is basically nothing, and it doesn't matter anyway because congress will block either of them anyway.

I'm voting for Gary Johnson (assuming the libertarians are smart enough to select him), and I would suggest you do the same. He's actually polling at around 10% nationally, which is significant considering most years (Perot excluded) 3rd party candidates are lucky to reach even 1%.

As to the Wreckage stuff...

Yeah, I went though this too with my wifes family (French) back in the Clinton and Bush days. They, and you, apparently, have a very warped perspective on what the impeachment was actually about. Of course the US overreacted stupidly to Lewinsky, but Lewinsky really was a very minor aspect of the actual hearings.

I'd agree that who the president is getting hummers from isn't and shouldn't be particularly important. But when the president presents lie after lie, well that should bother everyone. That's the problem with Hillary to me. She lies about everything, the email scandal to me is actually huge, I work at a place where we also have secure email and deal with classified material. If I played fast and lose with the rules I'd lose my job and likely wind up serving prison time.

For her? And for what she did... well it's much worse than anything I could actually do. So yeah, that basically should disqualify her in my opinion.

But don't even get me started on Trump and how mindless anyone who actually votes for him would be.

If I lived in the States I could vote in your election because I have dual citizenship in Canada/US. But I think I would sit this one out. I would have voted for nearly any of the other candidates on the R side (fave was probably Bobby Jindal, would have held my nose for Christie or Kasich, as I would have for McCain or Romney). But not Trump.

I just don't see how any democratic country corrects itself when its populace decides not to care about truth anymore. The press is objectively in the tank for the Left, running interference for Clinton on every play, and meanwhile citizens feed their intellect solely with the things they want to hear. And when they do hear something they don't agree with, they try to shut it down instead of engaging the argument. Then people get frustrated when their current government openly flouts existing laws yet there is no recourse because the "vigilant press" thinks of your half of the populace as the enemy.

Trump is a symptom of a very sick culture. But frankly any country that could vote for the likes of Obama twice and then Trump gets what it deserves. It's not just the States either -- we just voted in a trust fund baby on name recognition alone -- he's a high school drama teacher who dropped out of grad school multiple times, but he had a daddy who was Prime Minister for 16 years, a highly gifted politician with a mean spirit.

People can only vote with the information they have at hand, and if you're only hearing what comes at you through the usual channels, chances are you're only hearing one side of every issue. How does a country fight that? I don't think it can. God help us.

This is a Horrible conversation. Reagan screwed the economy of not only the USA, but for the other surrounding Countries. Some Americans love him, because he raped the other countries worse than he did his own. I can not name one thing he did to be "the greatest" president of your lifetime Bill. His trade agreements ruined other economies. Panama, and other South American countries are 3rd world status because of the 1980's Reaganism.

It took years, but the Americans are on a major decline of World domination. The problem is that they won't just die down like other regimes. They will try to go out in a Ball of flames the same way they rose to power.

By the way, we don't want any Americans coming up to Canada, we have enough idiots to deal with. Stay on your side of the border. I'm with Wreckage - George Bush did a huge amount of damage and the world has become a much darker place thanks to him, and the UK Prime Minister of the time Tony Blair. It almost beggars belief that a rich, developed country such as the USA could vote in such a stupid, macho religious fanatic. As to Blair I just don't know - as I think Michael Moore said 'Our President is an idiot, what's your guy's excuse?'. That the Republicans can now put forward a man as dangerously racist, xenophobic and ill-informed as Donald Trump should scare everyone around the world.

Look at his opinion of what BUSH knew before Iraq and look at the FACT that every single intelligence agency on the planet said Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. Even Iraq believed they had them. In FACT some WMDs were FOUND but the media doesn't count them because they were not found INTACT. He had Missiles meant to deliver poison gas in a warehouse that was supposedly for storing janitorial supplies. The media reported that their were missiles/warheads... but neglected to mention MUSTARD GAS because the BLEACH and the AMMONIA and the warheads to deliver the gas were in SEPARATE ROOMS. Which makes sense IF you know that Mustard Gas which is Ammonia and Bleach mixed together only last for a short period of time... so that if launching the gas you would wait until the last possible second to combine the BLEACH and AMMONIA before launching.

So you shouldn't be surprised that he believes Trump is a Facist for having THE EXACT SAME OPINIONS AND PLATFORMS on a variety of issues (especially those pertaining to Illegal Immigration) the both Clintons, Obama and Sanders had within the last 5 to 30 years.

Neither would he know that the thing BUSH said about Saddam are IDENTICAL to what Bill Clinton said and that the only candidate that was ANTI-WAR in this race is TRUMP who spoke out against it before BUSH and later Clinton and Obama led us into and further into war... and before Clinton and Obama bungled their way into toppling FRIENDLY NATIONS to the USA and basically handing over the arms to create ISIS... and THEN not doing a damn thing to wipe out those turds when it would have been SO EASY to but an end to ISIS within months if only our President had the will to do so. Instead his administration calls them DASH... some nickname LIKE HE IS A FRIEND of theirs or something.
